As you can imagine, we grew up in the 90s with Holiday Island when you could still play it on win XP.
That's why Summer Islands have been inspired by the genre and the retro style.
If you remember the game principle/content, you could come up with the following differences:
We are currently in Early Access. There will be many free enhancements in the next months.
We hope to be able to revive the genre.
Will Summer Island have the same kind of humor?

except that holiday island came out as a fully fletched game while this one here comes out as overpriced alpha build.
Holiday Island: Raising land on sea has a hefty price (800k vs ~20k on raising land on land), discouraging raising land only for building buildings but can be useful to break monopolies on one rival-controlled, dense island.
Summer Island: Raising land on sea is cheap (4k, no difference whether on land or sea) but deep waters act like hard borders. (EDIT: Breaking monopolies is not only possible, it's much cheaper to do, since in here, roads, not land, connects access between buildings.)
Holiday Island: Does not need roads to grant access for tourists to buildings, but *requires* connected roads for sewage, garbage, and power plants.
Summer Island: Does not have plants, but require roads to connect buildings.
Holiday Island: Has a big variety of "island environment" profiles that could be accessed as early as early-game. (e.g. houses-only, camps-only, hotels-only, beach-food only, etc. and some of them even have tiers within such profiles; cocktail bars and ice cream bar are both beach-food while belonged in different tiers)
Summer Island: Smaller variety of "island environment" profiles that could be accessed early-game. I see that some higher-tier buildings unlock over time, but I really like the possible cohesion of early-game and mid-game buildings.
does this game have similar sound track eg summer music as legendary Holiday Island? :D
loved those songs way back in the day.
Thanks for your question.
We don't have any music integrated yet. It is still WIP.
But we're working on it. :)
