Detector Tweak?

The game wants me to tweak my detector to find thin spots on the metal floor that can collapse under my weight using the mouse scroll but it doesn't seem to be working?
The scroll wheel doesn't do anything.

i couldnt get this to work either, but got an achievement to keep falling through it lol
