This is a latter-day version of what used to be called point-and-click games. The gameplay consists almost entirely of finding things and clicking on them, and the game takes control and does its thing while you watch / read. Choosing dialog options is just about the totality of your contribution. You can wander around a lot but it won't get you anywhere. You have to go find the next clickable object and follow the thread of the story.
