It depends on your location in the game, however checkpoints are not that far from each other.

Can anyone tell me if there are manual saves or not or are there auto saves at these checkpoints only? If auto save at these checkpoints are you notified in game when that save takes place?

Roughly a seven hour play not being able to save at will might chase many players away from purchasing The Invincible, me included. We do not like not being in control when it comes to saving in any game unless very short. Many of us just don't have 7 hours of spare time to play straight through

"It depends on your location" - What does that mean, you can manual save depending on your location?

Thank you in advance!

Hi Orion126 - There's autosaves on checkpoints , there's no manual saves. They game will let you know when it saves with an icon and a sound. The checkpoints are really close to each other so in case something happens you might lose a few minutes at maximum. Hope this helps and thanks for playing the Invincible! :)

Going to get it. That being said Checkpoint saves need to be outlawed in ALL pc games.

You're welcome :)

There should be multiple save slots for backup of saves in case of save corruption.

Right now there are two main menu options - continue game and and load game. Both do the same thing - load they only existing save - so what is the point of having two separate menu options for the same thing?

I wanted to come back to specific parts of the story - to record video, to do screenshots, to wander around and admire the scenery, or just to show a friend how this game looks.
But I can't, because there are no multiple saves. It think it's a bad design decision and I hope it will be changed in one of upcoming patches.

So if there are achievements related to endings you have to complete the game again from the start to get different ones?

Some achievements can be completed by making different decision at the very end of the game, when loading the save.

Sadly the game has no save slots, so you only have one slot which gets overwrittern
I think it's a bad decision and I hope they add multiple save slots.

I concur, super bad decision. However... if you head to:

%USERPROFILE%/AppData/Local/TheInvincible/Saved/SaveGames

You will find there's about 100+ backup .sav files (depending where your progress is at). There's no telling which is which, but you can rename the current 'SaveSlot_0.sav' to 'SaveSlot_0.sav.BAK' and copy-paste one of the backups. Try and guide yourself by the timestamp, remembering when was it that you were playing and which progression stage were you at. Once pasted, rename it to 'SaveSlot_0.sav' and boot the game.

Alternately, if you haven't saved to any other slots, you can try and rename it to 'SaveSlot_1.sav' or 'SaveSlot_2.sav' and see if the game displays the backups in those slots in the LOAD GAME menu.

For instance, I was able to go back this way to the moment where you have to make a choice: decide which direction to take, landing zone or alliance base. Which does have some major consequences.
