Was wondering the same thing boss, played through multiple times. Just figured out I could open the door to the shield generator, only after i turned it off though. I think, but I am gonna do another run just to see. I felt like I saw multiple things that could be the controller. But i could't figure out how to get them out of the sand. Next time I am gonna pay attention to who is holding the controller on the slides. Lmk if you figure it out! Heads up I love this game so far.

Looked every corner, no signs of the controller. Yes, there are slides with someone holding it, but no nameplates visible on slidess nor can I backtrack his movement after the MAG-4 incident, he's just gone.
Found every single crew except Lindor, so he may be the one who launched the probe. But theres unidentified body deeb under the rocks between the forecefield and LMU-54, found via detector. Looks like he was stripping has clothes (or has a very interesting biology with extra hands coming from his ass ), but still has no controller,

Been searching the internets and can't find anything about anyone being able to find a controller for the probe.

Well, if anyone else gets stuck here, all I can say without spoiling it is just keep going. Minor spoiler ahead (won't really spoil much, I'm just being careful) -> You weren't meant to find the controller yet - you will find it later. Remember the controller for these things is in a deployed trailer unit (you landed the other probe before). I was looking for a little device for some reason because I had forgotten. Don't worry, just disable the shield and go for now.
