Unable to do theatre light puzzle.

After recruiting all the crew members, making the monkeys abandon the ship and getting both maps (blood island and treasure) I went to the theatre to do the lights puzzle. After pulling the handle I pressed the bottom right button (South East) but itdoesnt work, it just restarts all over. After this happened i started to watch videos and guides to see If i had left something, and noticed that Guybrush says that he smells something burning when he goes up to the theatre lights. In my playthrough he never said nothing when I accessed the light panel.
Any idea of what could be happening? Going nuts trying to find what could've missed but nothing comes to mind. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks.

This is strange. I played the game myself again recently and all I had to do was pressing the buttons in the direction written on the "treasure map" after pulling the lever next to it first, if I remember correctly. I'm assuming you are playing the steam version too, so it's hard to believe, that your game is bugged and mine is not.

Have the same problem as a topic-starter. Even run the game from beginning and didn't get up to the lights section until I need it - no luck, same effect. Guybrush do not talk that he needs to read a manual, but light do not work as intended.

This just so happens to be one of the most enjoyable bugs in this game, I remember reading something about a fix... and others were sharing save games past this point, its nice to know that a bug from the first release of this game still remains.... i suppose..... theres a few famous bugs throughout the game that make it oh so enjoyable.

When I first purchased the CD version I ran into the unending singing loop bug.. usually guybrush jumps in with a line that doesnt quite fit and ruins it for everyone but in my case on multiple playthroughs until I dusted the game off years later I finally had the option to move on from that point.

The first two titles are flawless in all of my playthroughs but I banged my head into the wall so many times on monkey 3 and monkey 4 until I felt cheated by reading through walkthroughs only to find out that it was merely a bug

I have to say that telltale may have dumbed adventure games down a little but they seem to have a pretty flawless bugfree standard.

Right now I think the only option you have is starting a new game, and pray that you dont get the same bug again.

I am stuck, I've restarted four times and done it on two different computers, still get the "I need to read the instructions before this will work" voice line and the puzzle just won't work. Getting kinda frustrated.

Try to contact Disneys videogame support (yes, they own this game too) , I think they had a posible solution, but they started asking me a lot of stuff and I quickly got bored and just decided to let it go. Im sure if you are patient they can solve this bug. GL!

Yeah just read the map and follow those instructions. Recently replayed the game and it just worked. Windows10

If you don't have the instructions ingame it won't work.

Actually, it really works - it just makes that "wrong buzzling sound" eventho you are pushing the right buttons. I struggled with this for an hour, and with my last drop of hope just pressed those "SE, NW, W.."-buttons and yup, it works (I thought and remembered it didn't make any sound or "restart"animations)

So to be short: Just press those buttons, first the lever then the right buttons and in the end it works just fine and the X comes into play after pressing buttons in the right order.

Make sure you do step 6 two times, and it worked for me first time
