Oh god the frames
I CANNOT get this to run with any smoothness, even on it's lowest settings the game stutters and needs to STOP to load SO MUCH. I bought this because it's so visually stunning and because having a game based on Indian culture and Hinduism interested me, but it is virtually unplayable. Even the 2d cutscenes stutter!

Hello AVVVET, we're sorry to hear about your experience.

We will try to help you, could you share your machine's specifications with us?

Thank you

Hi, I just tried the game today and I have the same issue. I came here looking for suggestions. Specs below:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X 3.6 GHz
GPU: AMD Radeon RX Vega64 driver 22.6.1
BIOS: 3.3, released 2022-04-28
RAM: 16GB 3200 MHz
Resolution: 2560 x 1440
Graphics: High
Vsync: Enabled
Upscaling: Disabled
OS: Windows 10 x64
Storage: installed on C: drive, a Samsung 970 EVO m.2 nVMe SSD

Same issue with Graphics: Medium and with V-Sync disabled. It's worst when entering and exiting the combat arenas, so it seems like a possibly a loading problem

Thanks

Did you encounter this issue with the latest (Enhanced Edition) of the game?

If so, can you please list what your PC specifications are?

The game runs well and smoothly, especially if you already visited a location, but it has stuttering here and there while scrolling and entering new locations (or you just launched the game), which is very annoying.
It's a generic issue, not a specific HW problem. FPS are always high way above 60+. V-Sync ON/OFF won't help as well as trying to disable G-Sync: it seems a classic Unreal Engine (frame pacing/cache/loading assets?) issue.

Gaming laptop ASUS GL703GS, i7-8750H (6+6 cores), NVidia 1070 8GB (Max-p), 32GB RAM, 1920x1080 144Hz G-Sync laptop screen, NVMe 3GB/s + SSD, Windows 10, NVidia 512.96 SD or 517.40 SD

Got it, so it's mostly sharp drops for a short period in between scenes.
I'll have a chat with the devs to see if we can do something about it.

Great, please let us know. The game is very well done, but those stutters when scrolling to new location (or running the game for the first time after launch) are so annoying... :(

Hi, I have a similar problem too.

I’ve played this last year, and it worked fine.

When updated to the Enhanced Edition, I wanted to record my gameplay using OBS. But the lag was horrible. Just to make sure, I tried playing in with VSync On and the graphic settings High but without running OBS. It was smooth.

I cleaned my fans, thinking it might be the cause. But that doesn’t seem to be the case. As I’m typing this, I’ve been recording the gameplay with the Vsync on and low graphic settings. Even changing the OBS output video into 720p and the encoder settings to make sure it’s not overloading the laptop performance.

The lag is still there, like what Ravencat and hexaee said. I would add that it seems worse during the cutscenes. It still overloads the OBS encoder, but at least it is much bearable than before.

Laptop specs: Dell XPS 15, i7-10750H @ 2.60Ghz, 32GB RAM, Windows 11, NVIDIA GTX 1650 Ti, Intel UHD graphics, 1TB SSD.

Hope to get this resolved! Keen to share this with friends, while doing justice to the actual graphics and performances.

Hello, the game is still stuttering, so nothing has changed with the developers?

In the latest version it stutters like hell on a 5800X3D and 6900XT system.
One year ago when I first played it, it wasn't that bad.

I guess devs never precached shaders (in main menu would be a clever solution), generated in real time for this game: hence the stuttering while scrolling.

Okay, but why is the stuttering much worse with the current version than the release version?

Edit:
The new version stuttering again and again when you keep playing..
The release version no longer once you have passed Shiva.

Great Support...
Still the same problem. I don't think this will be fixed. The game looked great, but unfortunately it's no fun to play like this. :winter2019sadyul:

Yeah this game was an example of when bad stuttering can destroy a good VG. Unfortunately devs didn't care to fix it.
I looked for a solution for a while yesterday. :winter2019neutralyul: I found an "Unreal Engine Universal Stutter Fix" on Reddit & have also started the game in the DirectX 11 version. So far I have noticed significantly fewer stutters & problems. Now it's playable for me. :winter2019happyyul:

But I can't tell if it's the DirectX 11 version or the Reddit fix that made it playable. Sorry! :<
