We experienced no lag spikes and only observed rubberbanding if I sprinted on my horse with max speed. I believe cutscenes will teleport players to where the cutscene occurred.
It isn't so much that this game was a crashgrab as much as it was them (KOEI) trying something completely out of their comfort zone. Both in systems (open world vs self-contained maps/corridors for example) and in sales (see PC cluster-F vs PS4 full package). I cannot speak on behalf of them but the business model for PC looked like it was meant to be almost like a MOBA and have weekly rotations of characters available to play for free so customers could then purchase those character stories individually instead of forking a full $60. Which when taken into consideration how large of a departure this entry was from the last 7 games and their X-Treme/Empire editions, it was a very safe way to allow customers to test the waters. It just was done very poorly since there is no weekly warrior rotation at all and new players have no idea who to spend those free 3 officer tickets on. And anyone unfamiliar with the story could get a lemon in terms of campaign length due to characters dying as the story unfolds.
A lot went wrong for DW9. I hope they learned all the right things and DW10 is open world again but this time with more thought and care put into it. It would be a shame to fall back to what is safe and stale (self-contained maps/corridors) just because they missed the mark once when trying something new.
At the very least if you do consider this for a co-op game, grab the Complete edition when it goes on sale for $40 (which it is right now) and then you'll have all you need.
