So what actually happened the old English voice cast?

As the title says. What happened to the voice cast from the previous few games? Why were they replaced?

I mean sure, the english dub was never THAT amazing in the previous games but.. The new cast actually made the dub for this game even worse. Why couldn't they stick to the previous cast who knew how to voice these characters?

I mean, odd as it sounds, none of the characters actually feel like themselves anymore, in my opinion.

There hasn't been any official word as of yet. The most likely culprits are either budget constraints or the voice actor strike, the latter only having concluded about 4 months prior to the game's release (September 2017).

I see. That's unfortunate, unless Koei decides to re-record ALL of the voice lines with the original actors and patch them in (like Destiny did with the Ghost), I guess we're stuck with the new VAs?

And yes, I know there's basically no chance in hell that Koei would ever do that.

What's worse is some NPCs switch voices each line too, but I've only encountered it with two NPCs.

I personally think it's due to budget constraints. The series' sales is obviously declining hence the lack of english dubbing for 7/8 Empires, WO3U, SW4 games and SoS. Also noticed that this game has the most voice acting done for any mainline dynasty warriors game yet by a large margin. It gets a teeny bit more each time, but they made lines for all different possibilities depending on what you did and/or didn't do during an era.
