Again, I hope I'm wrong. This is a VERY early impression but it hasn't been a good one.
Really ?
I read all review it's full of english lang and all said about performance.
I think it's not just chinese players bichin' about no naitive chinese language support.
The game actually have problem!
That's an understatement if I've ever heard one. :P
The entire series was build around a closed-area mission-based level design; everything was tightly packed so that 95% of the time if you attacked, you hit about 30 enemies at once...something that was the main draw of the series. The fairly small stages allowed for a massive number of enemies onscreen so that it felt like the dictionary definition of a power fantasy, something that an open-world can't even remotely handle due to the world's size. It'd be like turning Serious Sam into a game that wants to be like Life is Strange or something that Telltale makes; it goes contrary to the entire nature of the game and every possible reason longtime series fans would want to spend a single cent on a given game.
First of all, the open world is really hit and miss (miss most of the time) I also agree that the travel time is too long on horseback. I say decrase the scale of the map and add more density to the open world.
Hunting never feels good but you'll have to do some of it to get items and materials, you can ignore it at the later stage of the game.
What I will praise is the combat, I just think it's the best it has ever been. you can actually do proper combos now and do some dash cancels and loops, defnitely feels more aciton-packed, although I would like for them to add more depth and variations to some of the move.
I don't really have a problem with the pacing of the battles, some skirmish-heavy story and then a major battle down the line (chibi, chengdu, etc)
so far that's What I could think of.
P.S: game's still downloading on PC so can't give word on port performances.
The only thing that sucks for me is the lack of keyboard prompts.
Also your horse launches like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ rocket sometimes when you try to jump over a railing. So that's a thing.
The inclusion of an open world also seems like an attempt to add in unnecessary padding to increase the longevity of the game, which being honest wasn't at all needed as you could easily get 100+ hours out of DW8 and still not unlock everything and experience all that the game had to offer.
Can easily say this is the most disappointed I've been with a game release in a long time.
Performance is fine? Awesome graphics? What world are guys living in?
One where the term "YMMV" doesn't seem to exist. :P
