I hate to say this, Emanuele. But that's the exact same thing I ran into and reported into this very thread.

There was a lot of finger pointing before. Paradox responded (very belatedly) to my e-mail, and so didn't Steam. Steam responded both to my original inquery and later explained very clearly why this isn't their fault.

Also, there is a fix for this problem, just not a very orthodox one. How many people have read through this whole topic?

Hi Hake,
you're right and indeed I read the whole thread but I don't like the solution :) I don't like to look for another copy of the game: I wuold rather prefer that someone will fix my very one.

I remember about all the tries you already reported and I thank you for that: my idea is to put it simply that some day we'll reach the threshold for which Steam or Paradox will say OK WE MUST FIX IT :)

Bye :)
When I first got this product it worked, but i didn't get it from steam it was a separate copy form another download stream and the entire product worked so as it has been pointed out numerous times in this tread it is entirely steams fault

I think I'm done attending this topic. I hope everyone figures things out for themselves, and Paradox fixes the matter soon.
I read about the fix too but I'm over it, I'm not wasting my time downloading files just to get a game to work. I have over 800 games I can play. Screw buying another game by this company though, wether it's steams fault or theirs, they should have had the problem fixed by now.
November 6th... Just got this game and having this issue. What BS.
Saw this was in a bundle. Hah what a crock. Hey lets throw this game that is still not working as intended into a bundle!
Guess what? I bought the Majestic Bundle from Bundle Stars only because of Majesty 2 Collection and the description on store page saying that it basically contains everything - DLCs + store purchases i.e. missions, tier 4 items, skins, temples, spells etc.

Thought - great, fantastic, I'll have that. Bought, installed Majesty 2 Collection, started the game and then - error, can't connect to the store... Had a quick look at discussions, found this topic and everything's clear now. Read the whole thread.

I think it's just outrageous what Steam/Paradox are doing. I'm especially angry at the store description that tells, simply, lies. As some people mentioned here - I paid for a full product, but only got some of it. So many months since this was reported but nothing has been done and I suspect nothing will be. I'm also sure that I'm not the last one that fell for Steam's misleading and untrue advertising on their store page.

As per instructions supplied by helpful karllion I had to download a pirated copy (!) of Majesty 2 Collection and follow his procedure. Everything worked OK. Steam just checked the files and said OK - you're good to play. I started the game and voilà - store connects no problem, everything shows as purchased and works in-game...

Piracy: 1, Steam/Paradox: 0.

This is exactly what I have just done. I just now finished reading the thread after buying this bundle, specifically for this game...
At least you didn't pay FULL PRICE like some of us did expecting to get the full working package. I was so stoked when I got this thinking I'd finally be able to play the full version.
Denied.

Bunch of crap if you ask me.

I'm also one of the bundle buyers just for this game. But another word of warning. I thought I would just play Majesty 2 without the DLC, but guess what, I lost all my save data. Have tried it twice. First time was yesterday evening I played for 2 hours. I came back after dinner and lost all my save date but I just started a new game and went again. Today, I'm home from work and I can't continue game, there's only option to start new game. Guess what, all save data gone, again!
I bought this game some months ago. Tried to play it two weeks ago and I got the same infamous error: Authorization Error. In the Majesty 2 main meny, whenever you tried to click on DLC, you got got a "can't connect" error.

So I followed karllion procedure and it worked wonderfully. It got rid of this message and I could connect to the shop and see my DLC.

...
1) Completly removed Majesty 2 Collection and removed all of it's entries in registry.
2) Installed retail edition of Majesty 2 Collection (I had mine from a friend).
3) Copied all the installed files into the stamapps folder.
4) Removed retail version.
5) Launched Steam and started to install Majesty 2 Collection.
...

In detail:
1- Uninstall the Steam version of Majesty 2 Collection. I didn't mess with the registry.
2- Exit the Steam Application (probably not needed but just to be safe)
3- Install a non-Steam version of Majesty 2 Collection.
4- Copy the folder "Majesty 2 Collection"
from:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Paradox Interactive\
to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\
If you don't have the "C:\Program Files (x86)" folder then you probably have a 32-bit Windows, just use the regular "C:\Program Files\" folder.
5- Uninstall the non-Steam version of Majesty 2 Collection, since we already copied what we needed.
6- Start the Steam Application if you closed it.
7- Install the Steam version of Majesty 2 Collection. Instead of downloading the game, Steam should display "Discovering existing files for Majesty 2 Collection...". This step took 5 minutes in my computer and required little to zero network use.

I have no idea who's in fault here, if Steam or Paradox. Since none of them have made any formal declaration, I'll blame them both.

Final thoughts:
- If you haven't bought yet Majesty 2 Collection, then go buy it directly from Paradox. The non Steam version works fine. DON'T BUY THIS GAME FROM STEAM BECAUSE IT DOESN'T WORK.
- If you already bought it, you'll need aditional files that aren't being downloaded via Steam. You'll need a non Steam version :( which saddens me because I like Steam. Since I don't know anyone who owns this game I had to use the Prophet torrent.

Yeah, I had to download an illegal version of the game to be able to play through Steam the game I legally bought.
I'm going to write a more legal based complaint to Steam's Representatives. As I am based in the United Kingdom and they sell products to those in the UK they should be following certain trading standards regulations. If you want to co-sign this with me just inform me. Thank you.
I can confirm this approach works!
Thanks, gjeldrez

This is BS, there are always problems with all the games if you look in any forum, but usually it's only some select people complaining, game won't work for them because they don't have required X or Y. I thought it will be the same story here, some people have some problems with their OS/PC and game won't function normally. I've never ever had such problems, I don't have a single game that wouldn't work. And so I bought Majesty 2 because the concept sounds like my favorite game - Natural Selection 2. RTS where units live on their own and never really listen to you. And wham, stuff won't work, no multiplayer (I wanted to try the game and then convince my steam friends to buy it so we could play online), no extra stuff, I even had a crash (played 2 hours so far) and game wouldn't save itself when I completed a few missions.

Dude, I feel like I bought alpha version of a game that was abandoned by devs many years ago.
