About Majesty 2 Multiplayer - Only LAN is available!

Hi guys!

I'm sorry to inform you that Majesty 2 was built around Gamespy for online multiplay. As you may or may not know, Gamespy is no longer in operation and as such online multiplayer in Majesty 2 is no longer possible because of it.

Since there is no active development on this game anymore, this is not something that will be changed later. Sorry about that!

There are ways of simulating LAN over Internet however, but this is not a solution that we can support, endorse or guarantee functionality for in any way. I just thought I'd throw that out there in case someone wants to try it out.

Hello BjornB, I think I am asking on behalf of all the Majesty 2 fans around here for this but would it be possible for you to somehow enable workshop for the game? If we could get that Im sure we can look past the no multiplayer servers and such. Would that be possible or is that a nogo?

That would be super great imo. Sadly, such a change is a lot of work, and as there is no active development on this title I don't see it happening. Sorry :(

I'm noticing people commenting in the reviews and subsequent discussions that they bought the game thinking that it was multiplayer, because on the store page it says so, and now they find that it isn't. Is there anyway to either uncheck the multi-player note on the storefront, or if more appropriate- add a note to the bottom of the main game description that says that multiplayer is limited to LAN from now on? It seems like a worthy thing for people to know upfront.

The shop page still says "Multiplayer" and there is a feature in the list "Gamespy multiplayer for 4 players over LAN or WAN".

It's a valid point, but also Steam's refund policy is adequate to cover it. I've logged over 20 hours playing... so I might not quite be able to convince them to give me a refund! :)

But if anyone does set up some scheme for internet LAN multiplayer game hosting - I hope they can get a pinned thread here too.

BjornB, a more important point at the moment is that the game now says No Internet Connection and no DLC content is available which means the game is currently unplayable. Can you tell us what is happening on this?
