Cold Sunrise, DLC Fix, and Balance Patch links.
Just putting links here, since these things seem scattered and annoying to find.

Note: Cold Sunrise is incompatible with the Balance Patch, and may have issues with the MJ2 Collection.

Installation Order: DLC Fix, apply Balance Patch afterwards.

Note: The DLCFix has three folders called EN, DE, and FR. English, German, and French respectively. The files from your preferred language MUST be placed in the root folder.

Yes, youd have to switch the profiles and run different executables, essentially. But you can do that.

Also would like to ask if you are aware of majesty 2 time mechanics is tied to in-game fps, more fps = longer build times?

Its something to do with either having 144hz or 120hz monitor, which can be an issue, making it appear time go faster, not sure if you actually build more slow, but you spend more days building in-game.

Do you know if you can fix this?

Also i have posted to the other majesty 2 forum, as other could use dlc-fix + balance.

Its nice to have mod distributed by user participation, but why isnt the mod being uploaded to moddb to begin with?

It is unusual to sync the game based on the monitor Hz rate, frankly, that is a pretty dumb idea, no idea what brilliant mind decided to do that. I suggest you do what the gentleman in the monitor Hz refresh rate topic does - set your global M2 settings to 60 hz Vsync on.

The game FPS affects the speed of builds, yes. More fps -> faster build. Same if you use 5x speed vs 1x speed, your net build time will be smaller compared to the perceived speed.

My balancing patch addresses build times, you should use that.

The mod isnt distributed via moddb because DLC fix is only needed for Steam version, not GoG version.

Hope this answers your questions.

Doesn't seem to be the case for me, the GOG edition lacked the Lunord & Ice Mage content out of the box.

Hi thank you for taking your time answering my questions.

I think its a shame they designed the game this way. I havent played majesty 2 in years, and I didnt notice, other than i thought building stuff took a while, and i got attacked pretty early.

Just hoped there were files you could change in order to make it suit ones refresh rate, so one dont have to run 60hz globally.

I got a gsync 144 hz monitor, so i opt with the solution with forcing adaptive(half-refresh rate) v-sync in nvidia control panel and switching to ULMB (120hz) and forcing 58 frames, for the majesty 2.exe, and turn v-sync off in-game.

I also changed a few other things like sharpening and enhancing anti-aliasing, shining it up with a fresh new look.

I do miss the smooth 144 fps, once going 120hz/144hz, its difficult going back to 60hz, so i hoped there was a solution to adjust the gamefiles and make the game adjust itself to ones native refresh rate without breaking the game mechanics regarding spawn and building time?

Did you test the balance patch with 60hz monitor, with fixed 60 fps?

......
btw, the question with moddb was regarding the Cold Sunrise mod your team made. I see alot of posts on steam where people link to the moddb page, and cant seem to dl from torrent, since it ran out of seeders.

I am just thinking of new players, with your website fanfantasy being down, and only having all the promotion material on moddb, i thought it would make it easier for people to just dl the files from moddb, instead of having to depend on people seeding or not.

Just curious if there was a particular reason for not uploading all the CS files on moddb to begin with :).

heck why not upload the steam majesty 2 dlcfix and balance patch there aswell?

The balance patch was close to CS right? So I dont think anyone would mind it, if they liked the way CS was balanced, in normal Majesty 2.

I dont even know if the one from steam Majesty 2 Collection, has the full list of dlc displayed. I didnt knew if i was supposed to install them manually through the support folder or not, but i havent tried, I just installed the dlc-fix right of the bat. So I dont know if I was supposed to run them first, before installing the dlc fix.

I am guessing i got all the stuff from the dlc-tab in-game, as i could access the ice mage and assassin, along with some, skins, packs and spells, but I am not sure if that is all there is?

Thats why i like to have the dlc tab in-game for the dlcfix aswell, so I can compare, to see if I got all dlc, since i am new to the game so i have no idea if I am missing some dlc, since there is no wiki with a list of all the dlc that was avaible in-game shop, back in the day to compare with.

Also i like to have a description of all the spells and stuff.

I think this is it, but i am not an expert at this matter:

Majesty 2 Collection - DLC Fix
https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/majesty-2-collector-dlc-fix.983538/

Just my guess, but from what I can see from the included readme, there seem to be alot of bugfixes and also make the game completely moddable in map editor, so there is some neccesary changes which cant be helped otherwise in order to fix the bugs aswell, as from what i can see from the batch file, it deletes whats inside the expansion folders, since its all going in the ressource.mod folder, and probably unlocks all the in-game store dlc, if there is issues with the included "M2CollectionDLCRepair.exe" in the support folder.

If you are up to it and would like an idea what is needed to do, I have copied the instruction and what changes were made below, or otherwise wait for the author to create the next version of the dlc-fix which he would release very soon, with new improvements with in-game dlc-tab, and allowing to change castle skins again :).

EDIT: Forget the instructions below, he is too fast, he already delivered on his promise released a new version, which is much more simple, with 3 steps only. :)

Majesty 2 Collection DLC Fix v. 3.0
Author: Hapuga

Instructions:

1. Unpack the archive to any folder on hard drive.
2. Copy "resource.mod", "M2Editor.exe", Majesty2.exe" and "DLCFix.bat" to your Majesty 2 Collection root folder (overwrite the contents)
- If you have a steam version, your path will look similar to this: "Steam\steamapps\common\Majesty 2 Collection"
- If you have a non-steam version, your path will be whatever your settings were when you installed the game.
3. Run DLCFix.bat. The window should close promptly.
4. If you have started the game before skip this step. If you have not started the game, start the game and create the default profile. Exit the game.
5. Go to the "profiles" folder in Majesty 2 profile folder. Your profiles are listed as "0", "1" et cetera. If this is a fresh install, you probably only have "0".
in the profile folder open the "x.profile" file, where x is your profile. In the file, find the following data:
{shop
{login "notblank"}
{auto_connect 1}
{visual_packs
}
}
Change it to (you can simply copy paste from this readme):
{shop
{login ""}
{auto_connect 0}
{visual_packs
}
}

Done!

Change log:

Cold sunrise is a standalone install. You can have collectors /w DLC+balancing in one folder, and CS in another.
Word of caution: they both use Documents/majesty2 folder for saves. So if you want to play one and then the other, you will have to do some by-hand folder management (backup one before starting another game version).
Hapuga Sep 23, 2020 @ 4:24pm
Yes, should be no problems. Let me know how it goes.

Is anyone that made this still around? Many of the quests and descriptions could really use an update. Many of the missions are very unclear and the first mission is alot harder becuase lack of clear information.
Other than that it's alot of fun, even tho the difficulty goes from insane to easy depending on which map.
