Cannot play with friends on both mac and windows

I want to play with my friends (not steam account but epic account) but failed on both mac and windows. It showed ‘checking online privileges’ on mac and ‘retrieving friends’ data’ on windows and both of them stuck there for like one hour. Did not improved upon restarting the game / downloading the game again / restarting the computer. Hope I could get a bit help here.

I followed the steps in the link but crossplay still doesn't seem to work. I'm getting the same message as kjlsxxf, getting stuck on "checking online privileges".

Thanks for trying those steps.

Unfortunately, this is a current issue the team is working on, we hope for a fix as soon as possible.
You can try the following steps for Windows as they helped other players with this issue:

Install vcredist packages directly from the Microsoft page:

1. Go to the Microsoft official download page here.[docs.microsoft.com]
   
2. Install packages for Visual Studio 2015, 2017, and 2019. You will need to install two files: x86 and x64.
   
3. Reboot your PC and retest the game.
