yes, i have tried methods you provided for improving internet connection, (except 1st, 9th and 11.th ones as these are above my ability maybe i am not that professional) none of them worked
i am sure "Enable Steam Overlay while in-game" is checked
the situation is kinda troublesome since my friend is in the UK while i am in China, in that case using VPN is necessary(during first 6h, the online gaming was working successfully and VPN was on the whole time
but it just couldn't work now, either with VPN on or off,
1 if i wanna invite her into the game with the VPN on,
it shows E10-E02-H4-17-400
2 if i wanna invite her into the game with the VPN off,
it shows E10-E02-H3-1
relative screenshots will be shown,
https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561199342803400/home/
i doubt whether the VPN i use supports the game or not. because VPN is needed for gamers crossing countries, it is supposed to be supportive
it has worked for 6 hours in the first beginning so i don't understand why it can't work now
thanks
the weird thing is, i have had fun playing the game with my friend for three and half hours today, we just started playing this one hour later after i posted the comment quoted above. i don't know why it suddenly worked again.
the situation was,
VPN was used the whole time
i could only accept her invitation, online gaming ran successfully,
i still failed to send the invitation, it still said it's internet connection error
showing E10-E02-H4-17-400
i am fine with that i can only join the game by accepting invitation from her, as long as we can cook together ٩(๑òωó๑)۶
but what if there is next time even i cannot join her session?
should i just wait for some time , give it a try once in a while until it works, considering it is a normal situation
or there are better solutions?
Thank you for sharing those codes with us.
Can you please confirm for us what country you're in?
Have you made sure to turn off your router for 60 seconds and then back on to restart it and see if this helps?
Are you able to load into the arcade versus mode on your own? Does that work correctly or do you still receive connection errors when trying to do this?
Get back to us when you can.

i am in China
(my friend is in the UK)
yes, i had restarted the router like that when i couldn't accept or send the invitation
and today i just did it again
when VPN was not used,
i played both arcade mode and versus mode (both on public) successfully,
i tried to send invitation to my friend again, the situation has changed
1 when VPN is on
it had succeeded twice because when i checked the chat history the invitation message was shown
2 it even succeeded twice when VPN was not used
but there were several times failing to send invitation between 1 and 2, i guess it was just sudden unstable connection since it did not last more than 10 min,
for those failed connection,
it has showed
E08-S0-400
E08-S0-500
E10-E02-H3-1
E10-E02-H4-2-400
sorry can't remember whether the VPN was used or not when the codes were shown,
relative screenshots will be shown,
https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561199342803400/home/
thanks
Thank you for confirming all of that for us.
Can you please tell us whether you are able to play the arcade modes with the same friend from the UK?
It would be useful to know whether it's just the campaign that you are unable to play together, or whether the issue is with all online services with them.
Can you also confirm if either of you can play with any other friends or if you experience the same error/issue when trying to invite or join other friends?
Could you also please try removing your saved file and reinstalling the title, but by removing the following folders:
(If you would like to back-up your saves so you do not lose them entirely we would recommend to do so, you can just copy the folder elsewhere on your PC)
Please first turn off cloud-saves by right-clicking the game in your library - go to properties - general tab - make sure cloud saves is disabled.
Then go to the following folder directory:
~/Library/Application Support/unity.Team17.Overcooked/ - then delete the entire Overcooked folder.
Then make sure to uninstall from Steam and then reinstall the title on Steam and test if the issue continues.
Get back to us when you can.

Please help
yes, the UK friend and i can play arcade modes and versus modes together(both in private, have not tried in public yet) and i still can not send invitation successfully
for the 2 new players who are also in China,
the internet connection is extremely bad,
i couldn't send any invitation successfully, i could only accept their invitation, and in the first beginning i failed to join the sessions for some times until it worked.
in the sessions,
1 my character would suddenly disappear and then appear in new places
2 my character is moving itself, i could not control its actions or direction correctly
1 and 2 took place the whole time when i was playing with 2 new players in China in a high frequency, it's really purely torturing
-after i uninstalled from Steam and then reinstalled the game like that,
i still couldn't send invitation to the UK friend, but i can join her session successfully and it ran relatively fluently for hours just like before
i tried to play it with a new friend in China,
but i even couldn't accept the invitation and join the session, we tried that repeatedly for more than 30 min, error codes showed,
E03-H2-11
VPN was used the whole time, it will be worse without it
Thanks for getting back to us.
@isthereanynameleft1 - are you having this issue on your mac or your windows PC?
Just to confirm, after you get to the main menu, you cannot click on anything other than settings?
When playing on the crossplay branch, did the exact same thing happen where you couldn't click anything or just that you were unable to invite your friend?
@Requiem Aeternam - Overcooked! 2 works on a peer-to-peer basis, meaning that if your friend is hosting, you are essentially playing on their connection. If you are able to play and accept invites on their connection but not send them from yours, there could be something on your connection which is preventing you from being able to do this.
Are you playing on a public connection such as the ones found in universities, apartments or schools or are you playing on a private home network? Are you able to access your router settings at all?
Are you able to play the campaign together at all or only Arcade and Versus mode?
Thanks in advance for any further information you can provide - get back to us when you can.

i am playing a private home network the whole time, not sure about accessing the router settings thing, any steps i can follow or anything i need to know?
we can play every kind of modes together including the campaign, we had not transferred from campaign to arcade or versus mode until you suggested so in the first beginning, now we can switching among them casually (with the UK friend only
thanks
Thanks for getting back to us.
Can you please attempt to play online as the host from a mobile hotspot? To do this, please disconnect your mobile device from any wifi or internet connection and turn on your mobile hotspot - then connect your Mac to your mobile device and attempt to enter a game and see if you are able to send an invite to your friend without error or enter a match. This may help us establish where the issue is coming from.
Get back to us when you can and let us know how you get on with this.

i used a mobile hotspot like that,
firstly i kept the VPN on, tried to send invitation, all failed, error codes shown,
E10-E02-H3-1
E06-4
E10-E02-H1-6
then i turned VPN off,
i succeeded to send the invitation for twice to the UK friend,
then i turned VPN on, error code shown,
E10-I02-P02
so i turned VPN off again, then i succeeded one more time for sending invitation to the UK friend ( the UK friend was off line when i was trying that but i think it was fine ) ,
but that was the end of successful connection situation, end of the miracle,
later i asked a friend who also lives in China to check whether it could work or not,
all attempts failed, whether i used private wifi or hotspot, whether the VPN was used or not whether it was her or me to send the invitation( i always failed to accept or send the invitation, but i could see invitation was showed in game interface from others
error codes shown,
E10-E06-4
E10-E02-H1-17-408
E06-4
by the way, one weird thing is that,
just between me and the only friend i can play the game successfully and fluently with(the UK friend), either of us, send the invitation in the game interface but all invitation will only appear in steam chat history instead of the game interface,
so i always go to the steam chatting interface to click accept the invitation, for those few times i succeeded to invite her, all invitation was shown in chat history, too
it's not a big deal as long as it could actually work
thanks
Thanks for getting back to us with that additional information!
Since you were able to send invites successfully while on the hotspot without the VPN activated, it suggests there may be a barrier within your network or router preventing you from hosting or sending invitations. Given that Overcooked! 2 employs a peer-to-peer connection and the issue arises specifically when you try to host, this inference is reinforced.
This could be something such as a firewall, the NAT type you have or security settings that need to be reconfigured to facilitate smoother online connectivity. Unfortunately, due to the varied nature of connections, routers and networks, we're unable to provide specific steps on how to configure these settings. It is advisable to contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) to explore whether any restrictions exist on their end that may be impeding your connection.
Regarding NAT types, Network Address Translation involves a procedure wherein a network device, typically a firewall, assigns a public address to a computer within a private network.
At times, NAT limitations imposed by manufacturers can restrict the types of connections accessible to you, typically manifesting during attempts to engage in multiplayer gaming. For the most optimal online gaming experience, an 'Open' or 'Type 1' NAT type is preferable. You can consult your ISP regarding how to achieve an Open NAT type or inquire whether this is feasible with your current connection.
We apologise for the inconvenience caused by this in the meantime, but please do keep us updated on whether your ISP can advise further!

I have tried all of the tactics and yet nothing works for my Mac (M1 \ 14.4.1), I can't even press space to start anything. Do you guys have any updates on this please
Thanks for getting in touch with us.
Can you please confirm if you have successfully downloaded the crossplay branch as mentioned in those instructions? This has been quite a successful workaround for players thus far so if you find you are still not able to press space when entering, we'd like to investigate further.
Get back to us when you can.
