Overcooked 2 Steam Remote Play Together 2nd Player Input
I invited my friend to play overcooked 2 with steam remote play. However their keyboard inputs are not registered in the game.

Steps to invite them:
1. Launch the game.
2. Click "Shift" + "Tab" to bring up the steam overlay
3. Right click on Friend Name
4. Click "Invite Remote Play"
5. Return to the game

Their are able to watch the gameplay, however, can't register themselves as player 2 or player 3.

Greetings Leonard,

Can you please confirm that you have administrator rights in your system? Although we do not support Steam Remote Play as it's a Valve's "product", we have seen reports where this is usually the issue.

Hi Leonard,

We have tested this and it seems to be working - please confirm that you are doing these exact steps:
  1. Launch the game
  2. Invite your friend for Remote Play
  3. In the Overcooked!2 main menu click on the plus sign in the bottom right
  4. Select Split Controller and you will see a second character being added to the food van
  5. Test the game

Hi, thanks for the guide. But this doesn't work. Doing so allowing two local using the same keyboard (laptop) to play the game while streaming the gameplay onto another laptop which can't input. For the record, I have no problem in playing 2 local player on the same laptop using split keyboard. It doesn't work on playing the game on two laptop using steam remote play.

Please advise, thanks.

Greetings Leonard,

The steps provided were tested and worked between two different systems. The steps should be exactly the same as when playing on the same laptop but with Remote Play enabled. Remote play simply streams your gameplay to another system with both sharing the same inputs as if you were in the same machine.

As we can see here: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=3629-RIAV-1617
It doesn't seem that there are reports of issues with unable to use the keyboard.

do i need to connect a controller to my hosting laptop in order for it to work in steam remote play together?

Greetings Leonard,

Not at all - the "Split Controller" wording is not the best one. If you press this option, it will split the keyboard in two, allowing you and your friend to then share half the controls on each side.

Hi! I'm having this same issue. My friends can join the remote play session just fine, but it's purely visual, they can't create a profile or even control the game.

Greetings Limeonades,

We cannot see the game license in your account, are you still having this issue?

Hello, I refunded the game because I only bought it to remote play with my friends. The issue was not resolved when I refunded it. Thanks anyways

I found solution!! When you add you friend at share play..for some reason you need to also allow access friends controls. Near the name you see what controls he/she has in use and just activate them =)

This worked for me! Friends have to be using controller, and you have to Shift+tab and click on the controller icon to allow them to use it!
