PS5 controller + macOS + bluetooth not working
My PS5 DualSense wireless controller does not work over Bluetooth with Overcooked 2.

System configuration:
  • 2018 MacBook Air
  • macOS 11.6.1
  • latest Steam & Overcooked 2

I have Playstation Controller support enabled in Steam already (Preferences > Controller > General Controller Settings > Playstation Configuration Support). It's also specifically enabled for Overcooked 2 (Properties > Controller > Enable Steam Input). I can also confirm the kernel extensions can be loaded:

When the controller does work:

  • with the controller connected via Bluetooth, navigating Steam in Big Picture Mode works
  • with the controller connected via Bluetooth, other Steam games started via Big Picture Mode
  • with the controller connected via USB C cable: in this case it works in both Steam and Overcooked 2

When the controller does not work

  • Overcooked 2 started via Big Picture Mode with the controller connected via Bluetooth
  • Overcooked 2 started normally (launched from Steam without Big Picture Mode), when connected via Bluetooth

Additionally, if from Overcooked I attempt to open the controller configuration via the Steam overlay, Overcooked crashes in "GetJoystickNames" with the following stack trace:

I'm also experiencing this issue with a 2020 MacBook Air with Hollow Knight and Children of Morta, though Big Picture Mode and Inside work just fine. I haven't done as thorough work as the above, but am interested in solutions.

Same here. Unable to use PS5 controllers connected over Bluetooth. Using Macbook Pro 14in M2 Max Ventura 13.2.1. Hope there is an update to this. Thank you

We're sorry to hear you're having this issue.

Let's see if we can fix this for you by changing some of the Steam settings.

Can you please follow the steps below:
  1. Unplug the controller
  2. Launch the Steam client and click the controller icon at the top right to enter Big Picture Mode
  3. Go to Settings > Controller Settings and make sure that "Playstation/Xbox/Generic Configuration Support" are all toggled on.
  4. Then simply plug your controller and retest the game

Thanks for the response, I'll be waiting. Yesterday, I bought controllers, all DLCs are purchased in the game, and now I'm thinking of finally playing, but it's not working.
