Steam overlay not active; Controller not working properly

Im trying to play the game with 2 controller; a Switch Pro and a PS DS4. Both work totally fine within steam and other games.
When i start overcooked, i can not call the Steam Overlay with Shift+Tab; the first connected controller (Dual Shock) works partially (IN-game characters running upwards all the time, when i press the right trigger, the character starts walking south.
The second controller doesnt react at all.
I tried the controller in different games and they work as expected.
I already disconnected them, restarted my pc.

Also tried to launch it from either Desktop, Big Picture and FIle Explorer.
I also reinstalled it and cleared the Programm Folder.

Sorry to hear you're having this issue.

Can you please try the following:

1. Unplug the controller
   
2. Launch the Steam client and click the controller icon at the top right to enter Big Picture Mode
   
3. Go to Settings > Controller Settings and make sure that "Playstation/Xbox/Generic Configuration Support" are all toggled on.
   
4. Then simply plug your controller and retest the game

I checked the settings and the nintendo, Play station and generic support were checked. The xbox is not as im not using a box controller.

Hey there,

so first of all i forgot to say, that i had the controllers connected via bluetooth.
I turned all options on and tried it again, non of the controllers worked.
I then tried to connect them via cable and the PS4 controller worked just fine in the game, the Switch Pro controller however was still doing nothing.
They both work fine in big picture tho.
BTW: The LED indicators on the controllers were turned on during the game.

Hi, the overlay will still not activate, neither with any of the controllers nor the keyboard. Im on WIndows 20H2

I tried without the keyboard, did not work.
I launch the game via Big Picture through the controller. Once the game starts, i cant get past the welcome screen.

BTW i happen to reinstall my complete windows, the issues are still the same after a fresh install

I think I am having the same issue, by any chance have you resolved it? I play overcooked 2 on my pc with friends and suddenly my controls aren't working mid game so I left and tried to restart and the game would just get stuck in the opening with me trying to click on selections with my mouse but it would not start a game or change a character.

Have you tried launching the game normally through steam, not the big picture, and testing the controller?
Can you try this with the controller already plugged in and if this does not help, then plug the controller in after the game launches?

Seems like the Issue was with my PC. I reinstalled it recently and everything worked directly.
