online multiplayer with more than 2 players?
Hi, I've been having trouble with remote play. I've managed to get it working with one friend but I'd like to play with up to three. When I invited two friends to play over remote play we encountered these problems:

- the game won't let than one other person join
- when one friend joins it removes the other (both on keyboard, I'm on a controller)
- it won't let me split the keyboard (I can change a keyboard to a half keyboard but not add a second half)
- when one of my friends plugged in a controller steam recognised it but the game didn't

does anyone know how to fix this please?

Hi Pazuzu,

Sorry to hear you are having this issue with Overcooked! 2.

Can you please follow the steps below and see if the problems still persists:

Remote Play Together
  1. Launch your game.
  2. Make sure your friend is logged in to Steam from a supported device.
  3. Open your Steam Overlay in-game (shift+tab).
  4. From your friends list, select 'Remote Play Together'.
  5. Once your friend accepts the invite, they will be in-game with you.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Regards,

Hello, I hope you are well.

Yes they are both connected via remote play and can see the game stream but cannot join in the actual game play if you understand what I mean - where it says "press x to join" in the corner it will only accept a total of 2 controllers.

I'm on a usb joypad, my friends are both on keyboards. It will only let one of them join, when another presses space it replaces the other person. It wouldn't let me make them into two split keyboard halves either. When my friend plugged in a gamepad steam recognised it but the game didn't.

Greetings Pazuzu,

Steam Remote Play works as if every input is connected to the same machine, so if your friends are playing from a keyboard, they will just be taking the same player spot, as if both keyboards were plugged into your PC. For them to both play when using a keyboard, you will need to click on the "Split Controller" button and this will split the keyboard, allowing your friends to play in each half.

Hope this helps!

Hello,

Thanks for your response, I thought that might be the case which was why I tried to split the keyboard, but as I noted above, the game doesn't let me add the second half of the keyboard, when I split it it shows player two with a half keyboard but doesn't let a third player join. It also doesn't work when we tried player three using a controller instead of the keyboard.

Hi Pazuzu,

Thanks for getting back to us.

Make sure that they have connected their controller properly using these steps:
  1. Unplug the controller
  2. Launch the Steam client and click the controller icon at the top right to enter Big Picture Mode
  3. Go to Settings > Controller Settings and make sure that "Playstation/Xbox/Generic Configuration Support" are all toggled on.
  4. Then simply plug your controller and retest the game
And also make sure that they go into steam settings - controller. Then make sure that the configurations are all set up there too.

Let us know if this helps.

Regards,
