Certain levels are crashing my computer
My computer has crashed now 4 or 5 times in the same spot of two different levels:

1-1 of the most recent winter update, and 1-2 of the "Night of the Hangry Horde" DLC. It seems to crash at around the same time in each level, very near the start of the level. We were able to play 1-1 of "Night of the Hangry Horde" without problem, and seem to be able to navigate all the menus fine without causing a crash. I haven't tried other levels because I don't want to keep crashing my computer like this until there's been a patch.

I'm certain it's the game because it's happened 4 or 5 times over the last couple of days only when I've been in the game, and it seems to happen at the same spot in each level. It's not just the game that crashes, my entire computer crashes and restarts.

I've noticed that the clock is not running at the start of each level. I'm not sure if that's related, or if it's maybe because we haven't completed a meal before the game crashes. I've checked and we are not in practice mode (we're in story mode).

I tried it with one- and two players and the crash seemed to happen at the same spot each time.

Greetings Qirn,

Sorry to hear that this happened - would it be possible to see your system information so that we can try to assist? To do this:
  1. Hold down the Windows Key and press R, the Run dialogue should appear > Type dxdiag in the available text field > Click OK
  2. Click Save All Information > Save the file DxDiag.txt to your Desktop so it is easy to find
  3. Open the .txt file, copy all the contents > Paste all the contents to a free text hosting service such as http://justpaste.it, http://textuploader.com or http://freetexthost.com
  4. Copy the link to your post

Greetings Qirn,

Thank you very much for that, can't see any issues with your system, the game should run normally without any issues. If you haven't done so already, can you check if your game installation has any issues? To do this:
  1. Right-click on the game in your Steam Library, choose Properties, switch to the Local Files tab and press Verify integrity of game files...
  2. Attempt to run the game to see if the issue is resolved

Please retest even if no error messages are displayed during the file verification. Can you also confirm what exact crash message are you receiving?

Regards,

Team17 Support

Yes, I've already tried verifying the integrity of game files and resetting. This was my first step after the crash and the game still had issues. I'm not sure what you mean by your question - my computer crashed and restarted immediately, there was no error message, no blue screen of death, no dialogue box with a crash message, etc.

When I go to "reliability history" I can see the description of the crash, not sure if this is what you mean by "crash message":

Problem: Windows was not properly shut down. Description: The previous system shutdown at 8:37:58 PM on ‎1/‎26/‎2020 was unexpected.

That's all it tells me about these crashes

Bumping this thread - any updates on what might be going wrong here?
Qirn Feb 23, 2020 @ 11:39am
I'm unsure what to do about this issue. The crash is still happening and it is the only game that this happens with. We may have to get the DLC refunded if we can't play it without crashing my computer, but we'd much rather play it than do that.

Hey there Qirn,

To confirm, for levels that introduce new recipes, the timer doesn't start until the first dish has been served! This is intentional and shouldn't be related to the crashing at all.

Do you have any crash logs in the following location?
C:\Users\username_here\AppData\LocalLow\Team17\Overcooked2\Crashes

Is your GPU overclocked or running at high temps?
Would you please be able to observe your GPU temperature when playing the game?

Kindest Regards,

Thanks for getting back to me!

There is no crash file in the folder specified. There is an "Output_log.txt" in the folder above which shows what looks like an error:

"The referenced script on this Behaviour (Game Object 'T17ScrollView_Consoles') is missing!

(Filename: Line: 1758)"

I'm not overclocking my GPU. I just ran the level and monitored my GPU temp and it was stable at 67 Celsius when it crashed

Hey Qirn,

Thank you for confirming!

Have you uninstalled and reinstalled the game at all? If not, please can you try this step to see if it helps at all?

Previously you mentioned that the crash always happens at the same spot, can you confirm when/where that is?

Thank you for your patience regarding this matter!

Kindest Regards,

i'm having the same problem.

I tried 1-1 and 1-2. Both crashes at the end when the score is being counted before the play was saved.

I tried adjusting the resolution.

I tried verifying integrity of the installtaion. My next move is to reinstall. I hope the saved files remain.

Any updates? I’m trying to play with my friend but the game keeps crashing every time we finish the level. In story mode and we even tried arcade and it still crashes. Playing through Parsec. I’m desperate for help. I bought all the DLC just so we could play it all but now my game just keeps crashing. Have in mind I just had reset my computer and deleted all the file so it’s literally brand fresh. I don’t know if there’s something from with my gaming tower but I’m starting to give up, it’s so complicated this game is crashing after I bought it and everything.
