Xbox One Controller not working on OSX Overcooked!2
I am unable to play Overcooked 2 on OSX (10.13.6) with an Xbox one controller (connected via bluetooth) because I cannot get past the initial loading screen (Press X / space to continue) with any button presses on my Xbox one controller.

I have confirmed that the controller works without any issues in Big Picture Mode.

Having read through the other controller issue discussions, I have also tried reconnecting the controller and starting Overcooked:
1. In/not in big picture mode.
2. with/without "Xbox Configuration Support" enabled.
3. with/without "Generic Gamepad Configuration Support" enabled.

No combination of 1,2,3 above allows me to get past the loading screen.

For reference I have a DS4 controller as well which I can use in Overcooked without any issues. When testing above I did not have the DS4 controller connected.

How can I get the Xbox one controller working?

Hi erayrayersay,

We are sorry to hear that you're having issues with your Xbox One controller.

Are you able to check if your Xbox One controller works well with the game while it's connected via a cable?
If it won't work then please let us know if you're having a similar problem with other games from your Library?

Could you please send us your system information following the steps?

Hi Team17 Support,

With the xbox one controller connected via cable,
1. I see it show up as "Controller" under System Information > System Report > USB
2. I see it work with http://html5gamepad.com/ on chrome showing up as "Xbox One Controller (STANDARD GAMEPAD Vendor: 045e Product: 02ea)"
3. I don't see it showing up under Steam ("No Controllers Detected" when I'm in the general controller settings menu)
4. I cannot seem to use the controller when running overcooked 2 (same issue as before, no input from the controller can get past the loading screen)

With the xbox one controller wirelessly connected,
1. I see it work with http://html5gamepad.com/ on chrome showing up as "Xbox Wireless Controller (STANDARD GAMEPAD Vendor: 045e Product: 02fd)"
2. It works with Rocket League
3. It doesn't really work with Superhot, can move menu selection around but not actually select anything
3. Does not work with overcooked 2 (documented in initial post).

My system information:
Version: 10.13.6 (17G3025)
MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015)
Processor 2.5 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Startup Disk Macintosh HD
Graphics AMD Radeon R9 M370X 2048 MB
Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB

Please let me know if you have any more questions, would gladly provide more detail if it helps!

Hi,

Thank you for the detailed information.

This is an issue we are investigating with Mac and other Games Controllers. Can you please try the steps here: https://www.macworld.co.uk/how-to/mac/use-ps4-xbox-controller-mac-3626259/ for the Xbox One controller.

Hi Team17 support,

I've been experiencing the same problem, my wireless controller works for other games, but not this one. I went to the site you recommended and I downloaded the .dmg file but this did nothing, I see the Xbox icon appear in system preferences but it doesn't detect a controller. Now I'm not sure if the file supports wireless controllers at all. I also can't figure out if it's a game bug or if it's related to my computer/controller. I don't know what to try next, let me know if you have questions or any advice. Thanks for all of helping us, it's greatly appreciated

Any progress on this issue? Having the exact same issue as erayrayersay. Controller works in http://html5gamepad.com/ steam and most games. No response at all in Overcoocked2!

Also; steps from the https://www.macworld.co.uk site did not resolve this issue.

I'm having the same issue with the Switch Pro Controller on mac. The controller is detected by steam, and works for other games (such as Hollow Knight) but is not detected by Overcooked 2.

A patch to correct this issue would be very much appreciated.

Hi Rapina,

It seems that there is some sort of problem or conflict with the Bluetooth drivers.

Let's try the following:

  1. Turn off Bluetooth, wait a few seconds, then turn it back on.
  2. Remove the Bluetooth device, then add it again: Select the Start button, then select Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices
  3. Under Bluetooth, select the device you're having problems connecting to, and then select Remove device > Yes
  4. Replug and reinstall the device and retest

Let us know how you get on,

Regards,

Hi Krause,

Were you able to test using one of them connected with a cable just for troubleshooting purposes?

Regards,
