My save data is gone.
Hi,

I just found my save data is gone. It seems like my all 3-star progress somehow got lost, and my cooks are still all unlocked though.

I was joined my friend's session with 2 other players. We met a connection issue that noone could move in the game. So we restart the whole game. After that, all players' save files are returned to the tutorial except the host.

I've tried deleting the save file, then redownloaded from Steam Cloud. However, it didn't work.

I really want to continue challenging 4 stars, but I do not want to play from the beginning again....

Is this possible to restore or fix?

Save File missing after New Game+ Update
I seem to have lost my 100% save file after downloading the New Game+ update, and I'm forced to start fresh from the very beginning with no option to start a New Game+. Is there any workaround to this? I'm not keen on replaying the whole game again just to be able to start a New Game+ run with my friends. I also still have every chef unlocked, however my save file is nowhere to be found.

We are sorry to hear you have lost your save data in Overcooked! 2.

Can you please check to make sure you still have all your unlocked chefs?
Can you also check to see if you have your save files are in your save folder? C:\Users\username\AppData\LocalLow\Team17\Overcooked2 (Save folders are in a folder 18 digits long.)
Did you unlock your 3-star progress as a host of your own game, or were you the client throughout the story mode? Currently, only the host of a game keeps the progress. We are investigating this at this time.

Please get back to us when you can.

Hello,

As we konw, the chefs unlock by completing certain levels.It's wierd that I still own all of them with 0% progress definitely.
My save files are in my save folder.There are two files called "CoopSlot_SaveFile_0" and "Meta_SaveFile".
Sure, I finished the progess as the host.

I had the exact same problem, I don't know what causes it but somehow after the update after you shutdown Overcooked 2 the Save Data in the "Appdata" gets put in a incorrect named folder called: "{64BitSteamID}", you have to manually move the save data from that folder to your actual SteamIDdigitfolder and then you have your old save again.

You keep all your chefs even tho the save file was erased.

So maybe this helps you guys in fixing the problem, that it sometimes (once for me) just doesn't put the save file into the correct folder.

Update: I've just tested saving the game again, and it now puts the Save File into the correct folder. To be safe I will backup my Save File like I did with Overcooked 1 :P

To expand on what ShatterNL found, it seems there is a bug in the latest Overcooked 2 that is preventing Steam from being able to find Overcooked 2 saves to upload to/download from Steam's cloud saves.

From my Steam's cloud_log.txt:

It looks like the "{64BitSteamID}" variable isn't getting substituted.

I have a few machines, and saves aren't syncing on Mac or Windows. Cloud save syncing works for other Steam games in my library, and cloud syncing for Overcooked 2 has worked with these machines in the past.

Hi there,

Just 2 hours ago I was playing Overcooked 2 just fine. I have completed all 3 Stars and 4 Stars up to 4-6. All game progress was done locally not online. But after launching it just now. I was prompted with the corner adjustments and my save data was wiped. I was also shown to the tutorial. Chefs unlocked were also all wiped.

My save files are in my save folder.There are two files called "CoopSlot_SaveFile_0" and "Meta_SaveFile".

Please help me out thanks!

I getted 3-stairs in all stages.
After update today, data is lost.

Hi,

I have the same exact problem with this. Updated my Overcooked 2 today and found out that all my unlocked chefs as well as my saved data for story are all wiped clean. I've finished all the story with 3 stars and is going through the New Game+ the other day.

Hi, I am having the same issue too. Pretty disappointed after the current update. Just checked in 1hr ago and see that all my gameplay is gone right after update. However, all my chefs remains. Saved folder is there too. This only happened right after the prompt of the new updates. Earlier before that which is before the update, my data was still there and haven’t been gone. Please help thanks.

Hi,

I've attempted the above post's solution but it still does not work - the Team17 folder is nowhere to be found. Hope to hear other solutions to help resolve my problem. Thank you.

I went to my friend's home last weekend. After I downloaded the game with my account, there was no save data in the game. After I came home, the save data was still gone.
Please help about the issue, I had spent 18 hours playing with my friends on this game. I don't want to restart it again. please~~~
