Overcooked 2 with Latest Remote Play Together Issue
I bought the game recently and wanted to play with my 3 friends (they don't have the game).

I try and use the latest Remote play function, but it seems like the game only recognize 1 keyboard instead of 4 keyboard. Is there a way to do the settings? What I can do currently is to split my keyboard into left and right, which only allows 2 players.

I also try and use Steam Link app on phones, which gives us a 3 player control but I can't really used another phone with Steam Link to let the game recognized a 4th player/2nd controller.

Is anyone having the same issue? please let me know if there is a solution.

My ideal expectation is that 4 of us could use our own keyboards (4 keyboards), with overlapping keys to play the game. Or use 4 phones with Steam Link App to let the game recognized 4 different controllers for 4 players

If the remote players activate their characters themself, it should work out of the box. They need to press A on controller or space on the main screen where you can invite friends. Don't do it yourself on your computer.

Start the game you want to play and invite your friend by right clicking onto your friend in chat or in your friendlist and selecting Remote Play Together.

But Remote Play Together or the Game considered my keyboard and the other 3 keyboards as the same keyboard. So can't really solve the issue by clicking "space" on each keyboard

Hi Chowder,

Remote Play works as a local network with the game being streamed from your system - so in essence, the game is detecting 3 keyboards plugged in into your system. If you plug 3 keyboards into the same computer, they will all work as one, so, unfortunately, there is no way around it and the same will happen with any game. The solution would be indeed having different controllers plugged in, the same way you would have to do the same if you were all playing from the same computer.

Hope this clarifies it,

Hi,

Thanks for the clarification! It really helps alot!

Can I also ask regarding the Steam Link App on phone?

So for instance, I invite 3 of my friends to Remote Play and they accepted it by using Steam Link App, can they use their phone as controller? Hence there will be 4 controllers recognize by the game.

I tried to test it out but unfortunately it does not work. I am not sure whether it is possible or simply because I needed to do some settings. If possible would you be able to come out with a guide or tutorial to do the settings ? Using Remote Play and Steam Link?

Hi Chowder,

Steam Remove Play and Steam Link are both developed by Valve, so our troubleshooting/knowledge is fairly limited. That said, according to their own page, you would still require some sort of controller to be connected to each device:

Actually you don't need an additional controller with Steam Link on mobile. I was testing it with Steam Link on iOS and I've successfully added a second player to the main screen by touching A on the display. However I'm not sure if that was Remote Play Together since I was entering a PIN on my desktop to pair app and computer. Also I don't know if multiple phones work as well.

This guide might be helpful for you: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1888830141

Hi, I'm facing this issue as well. Is there anyway to solve it?

When i invite my friend through remote play together, my friend could only view the game instead of control it using his own keyboard.

Greetings zhiqinglooi12,

Can you please confirm that you are running both the game and Steam as administrator? To do this:
  1. Right click the game in your Steam Library
  2. Go to Properties then the Local Files tab
  3. Click Browse Local Files
  4. Locate the game executable (the application)
  5. Right click it and go to Properties
  6. Click the Compatibility tab
  7. Check the Run this program as an administrator box

And then Steam:
  1. Browse to the directory where Steam is installed. The default location of it is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam. If you have Steam installed somewhere else, go to that location instead
  2. Right click Steam.exe and go to Properties
  3. Click the Compatibility tab
  4. Check the Run this program as an administrator box

Now retest.

Greetings kritchai.benz1,

Remote Play Together is developed and supported by Valve so we are unable to troubleshoot it further. That said, they have their own forum where there are several players reporting the same issue on other games:
