Unlocked Framerate?
I'm stuck between purchasing this for PC or Switch. I don't like the poor performance on the Switch for the first Overcooked and have a 165hz 1440p panel and was wondering if Overcooked 2 will support high-refresh rate and resolution displays on the PC version?

Also, are we expected to see better performance on the Switch for this new version or will we be seeing the same framerate and such?

Hi Kent1,

On Nintendo Switch, Overcooked 2 runs at a locked 30FPS in both docked and handheld modes, with a resolution of 1080p docked and 720p in handheld mode.

On PC, the framerate is unlocked, with v-sync available if you want it. Overcooked 2 supports up to 4K resolution on PC.

Hope this helps!

Sub-30fps when in portable mode but better, sustained, FPS when docked. It was enough for me to stop playing it on the Switch and play the PC version I received from a friend (due to better framerate).

For any non-gamer, this isn't an issue. For me, as a gamer on a relatively high-end machine, I couldn't stand it.

Hi, first Overcooked on PC had unlocked framerate but the game internally always runs at max 50 fps. I think this is because you limit your physics tic to 0.02 secods (20 ms) as default value in Unity engine for new projects. This decision makes the game is not smooth at all on any platform, and for me, is unplayable.

Looking at the Overcooked 2 trailer, the problem remains the same and then is a big No Buy for me. Can you go deep about this problem here? Why you never fixed this problem in the first game?. What is the reason why it remains unresolved in the sequel?

I just booted up the first Overcooked on PC and was getting over 140fps during gameplay at 1440p on "Dreamy". The menu started off around 39-50. Have you tried again recently? Maybe it's something limited frames like v-sync?

If you read my message again, I said framerate is unlocked, but the game only shows only 50 different frames per second because physics update is locked at 20 miliseconds rate. The only way to play the game with smooth framerate is forcing a 50hz resolution so you can sync physics rate with screen rate.

So it was just a development oversight of them leaving default setting for unity on! Finally an answer to why Overcooked ran at 50 tickrate as no matter what framerate I ran at the only way to get it smooth was by running my display at 50hz. Is this not the case anymore with Overcooked 2?

Asking the devs doesn't work, the support goes through Team 17 and they don't really want to come clean on this for some reason. Probably way to much hassle for them to fix it.

Overcooked 2 has the same exact issue and the devs don't give a ♥♥♥♥.
