How does couch co-op work in this game?
The game sounds and looks like a lot of fun, and sounds like a good one for a parent to play together with a child. However, I have heard some confusing/contradictory information in reviews/ comments about this game. Please help me clear it up. I understand that couch co-op implies that two or more players can play together usuing the same PC, much like is more commonly done on consoles. I have also heard complaints about the keyboard not working well, and about controllers only being partially supported. So how exactly does it work, and what kind of controllers do you need to have a good co-op game? Can I use a keyboard for one player and a mouse for the other, or can both play on a single keyboard? Can I use a keyboard for one player and a joystick for the other? What do I need? Thanks.

Xbox 360 controllers (wired, not wireless) work great from what I've experienced. Just plug them in and voila, along with childproof cords that were made to be trip-resistant in the sense that if someone trips on them they'll disconnect part-way so they don't rip out the USB port. That's what I have been using for gaming for over a decade, anyway.

You can play with up to 4 local players, or with less local players, add online players to fill the party if needed.

Regarding controls, each local player can play on his own device (keyboard or joysticks), and you can even "share" the devices (two players sharing a joystick, or two players sharing the keyboard).

Partial joystick support is something from the past: if you enable Steam controller emulation (in steam config) for your joystick, 99% of the controllers should work just fine on any recent game that features X-input support.

I also tried it on keyboard, no problems - although I think it lacks basic key mapping, and if two players share the keyboard, you're bound to have simultaneous key limits from your device.

I have a small test of how to add local players shown in this video:

Provided you don't need to rebind keys on the keyboard or controller it works well.
