Save file location
Apparently, only host's progress is saved in online story mode. I want to try giving my save to my friends to catch them up. Does anyone know the save file location?

I shared my save file with a friend because I was the host and we didn't want to redo the game, however now the save file is showing up as corrupted. Any idea how to fix this?

Mine is corrupted when I tried as well. As of now, I don't think there's a way to share save with friends.

Sucks :/ Thanks for the reply!

Yep, save files seem to be associated with your account so you can't cheat by sharing sadly.

Hey,

I really liked Overcooked and Overcooked 2. I think players should have the freedom to copy their savegames between users and platforms, and I find it very bad on Team17's side that they implemented such a terrible mechanic. So I wrote a tool to circumvent it:

See the Releases window for compiled version and readme for instructions.

Hi, I'm trying to use your code but I'm not sure if I'm doing correctly. I've downloaded the programm from releases. Next using cmd on windows. Firts I paste this on the correct location of the exe. "OvercookedTool.exe decrypt C:\Users\Mobet\AppData\LocalLow\Team17\Overcooked2\XXXXXXXXXX\Meta_SaveFile.save C:\Windows\Temp\Meta_SaveFile.json XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX"
and then this "OvercookedTool.exe encrypt C:\Windows\Temp\Meta_SaveFile.json C:\Users\Mobet\AppData\LocalLow\Team17\Overcooked2\NNNNNNNNNNNN\Meta_SaveFile.save NNNNNNNNNNNN"

The first one is the folder with my old user saves, second is my current user saves in steam.

What I'm doing wrong?

looks good, note that you have to convert all files (meta, coop, etc) but it should work

This no longer works, I can decrypt the file but I cannot encrypt.

Thanks, I really appreciated this. It saved my campaign.

I'm using the epic version but launched through the steam client so I can use the PS5 controller via the steam overlay. Also, I played it on my laptop and I wanted to keep playing it on my desktop. This confused the game a lot. I had to decrypt the file with the Unity ID from the laptop and repcrypt them with the unity ID of the desktop. Now if the game is lauched via Steam it will work. Launching the game via the Epic store will corrupt the saves.

Thanks again
