Can you play the campaign online coop?
it seems like online isn't coop but just a side mode?

You can! As far as I am aware you can play each of the three game modes online, local or even a mixture of both.
The main menu is where you get everyone together and then the host selects the game mode.

You can play campaign with online players. However there's no matchmaking for the campaign (so you've to manually invite or be invited by someone).

Not big deal, but it means that you need to have friends (or at least add people to your friend list) in order to be able to play campaign online.

yea okay, thats fine i wanted to play with friends anyway, just wwas confused cause the other menu options make it clear that theres online play and my friend wasn't around to test it yet.
