Is someone playing the multiplayer or is he really dead?
Is there anyone playing Overcooked 2 online? It seems like the matchmaking is totally broken. Yesterday my girlfriend and I tried to look for a match at the same time and neither of us simply found anyone to play.
Is there a secret to finding people in multiplayer? We did not find anyone playing the two of us on the same computer. We did not find each other playing on different computers.

Considering that most of the achievements are aimed at getting caught in the online part of the game (since the single player campaign does not last long enough to reach all the goals), it seems to me a very serious failure ...

I'm having a hell of a time too. I've never found more than one chef at a time to play with online. Something is wrong.

I have played maybe 10 games online and most of the time it doesn't take too long time to find more players, but this only goes for the coop levels. I haven't been able to find anyone to play versus games with/against

I'm not gonna say it's reliable BUT after playing a bunch of VS rounds 2 vs 1 I was able to get a Steam friend into the same game by telling them when to go to the VS lobby (during the 40 second search window).

So it does work at least sometimes, and yeah there aren't a lot of people playing. Probably the Switch version is more popular?

Try looking at the top of the forum's thread list. Right at the very top.

I use a VPN. I turned it off, and I don't notice a difference.

Reading is hard.
Don't be a dou che, we all know that thread exists. The ppl above are talking about online pub matches, which I used to connect easily to a full room of randos, but lately can barely even get a single person matchup. Adding people as friends still requires them all to actually be online and playing at the same time, which is still hard to coordinate.

Since reading is still hard: the people on the community discord number in the very high double digits, and possibly more - I haven't counted. The problems with co-ordination you've listed are eliminated by the existence of the Discord platform - that's what it was designed for.

If you join the Team17 Discord, your issues will be largely mitigated. Public online matches are indeed hard to find, but with a small amount of additional legwork, you'll find plenty of people to play with who are still randoms.
