You and your friend will be able to pair up on one machine and play against two other players playing on two separate systems.
Thank you for your reply :) This makes it a day one purchase for me.
ps. I really hope you guys will be able to add a level creator for the community to keep the game alive for years to come.
@Lauren_Team17 Don't you guys have a list with all the features ingame that you can check before responding with yes & no on separate topics?
Apologies, I think there may have been a bit of confusion here!
Overcooked! 2 supports up to four players in either local or online play. On Nintendo Switch, we also support wireless multiplayer for up to four players.
With up to three local players sharing a console it is then possible to also play with other players online. When two or three players are in the game locally, online friends can search for and join the game, or other players can join online through matchmaking. The only set up we can’t currently support is two players locally wanting to play online against two other players sharing a console.
This is down to our current peer-to-peer system for the networking which doesn’t allow merging of online sessions (i.e. parties). If you have two local players sharing a console, then you must be a host and once someone is a host, they cannot become a client if they are already in a party with other players (either local or online) without first disconnecting from the other players.
We know this will be disappointing to some fans and for that, we apologise. We are already working on an update but it will be a fairly lengthy process to implement this. We’ll update you in the coming weeks on progress.
If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask!
