As some are saying here, the editor would allow the game to be alive forever with custom maps, challenges, leaderboards, etc.
And I also think is a good way to improve the profit of the game: as some are also saying here, it would be possible to release several DLCs with new maps that include new mechanics and assets for the editor and I'm sure we all would be happy to buy them.
If you passed this test four different times and your kitchen is playable, then you can submit it to the workshop. Or else you have a mess of kitchens where the majority of them might not even work.
I think that if you don't have multiple people you can mark your kitchen as being for a certain number of players. Of course some wouldn't work with some players, but I mean. N++ has a level editor where you don't even have to beat your own level to post it, and the community functions. The ones that are unbeatable or bad get pushed down by bad ratings (no ratings) and the ones that are really good get rated well and stay up. Also, you can intuit how a kitchen may or may not work with 4 people, even if you don't have that many people to test with. The one star, two star, three star system of course wouldn't work, but high score in general and leaderboards would.
As for kitchen editors, there is no need to for star-ratings as there isn't a reason to unlock stuff as long as you can deliver the food.
So even if the kitchens are unbeatable, if its challenging and gets me the laughs or rage, I'd like to try it out lol.
(sry for bad eng, i really want it)
The point is I think the devs avoid it so they can sell dlc and new overcookeds
they didn't release online multiplayer or endless levels in overcooked 1
now they released overcooked 2 without endless levels
the easy reason is that with endless / custom player made levels is there's no reason to buy a 3rd one, so this one will get some dlc which will sell better as a result
online multiplayer didn't need to be an entirely new game, but it was.
Also it's been two years since the previous game, there's nothing wrong with this release.
I'm not saying there is
there will be though if overcooked 3 comes out before we get a level creator or endless levels in this one, because it would prove these games to be a cashgrab.
