Multiplayer is recommended.
Online matchmaking is available but no one plays it you will have to add people from this forum to play online.
And I'm gonna say playing it alone is not fun at all...
Find some friend to play with

About playing alone: I do enjoy playing it both solo and with my friends. Personally, playing solo feels like a completely different game, a mix of action and puzzle. I enjoy it a lot! If you wanna see what single-player in Overcooked 2 looks like and is capable of doing, give a look at my channel, 90% is single player: www.youtube.com/c/overtyr
I tried playing it (Overcooked 1) solo before and it was hard. I could barely get any stars haha.
btw add me if you need someone to play with, I'm always available
