worst in series
LOL why the hell did they go and remaster the worst game in the series? They should have done the first one. V2 was total garbage because all the enemies were telepathic and the moment you alerted anyone everyone on the level knew where you were forever. It was just another action shooter. Trash.

If I recall correctly, Sniper Elite 3 had a bug where it was impossible to get 100% accuracy, thanks to the final "boss" fight forcing you to "miss" a shot.

3 was the dumbest AI I have ever played against.

For me, I think SEv2 is the weakest entry. It's not a bad game, but doesn't rely very heavily on stealth (which is supposed to be a major component of the series), has enemies pop in from nowhere, and not being able to save when and where I want are major problems. The war-torn environment was also ugly and boring. Everything was gray and brown. Maybe that's realistic, but it's visually unappealing, at least when compared to SE4's lush environments.

SE3 improved drastically on this by no longer having enemies pop in out of thin air (at worst, they'd arrive via truck), made stealth more important and possible, and best of all, put in manual saving and loading. Admittedly, the environments were lacking some, but it was interesting to see North Africa as that's usually skipped in most WW2 games.

SE4 then improved on SE3 even further by having beautiful scenery, huge levels, varied maps, enemies who did not appear out of thin air, and stealth was incredibly important. Again, SE4 followed SE3's footsteps and let players save when and where they wanted.

I feel like this guy is the only one in the thread who knows what he is talking about. Especially since almost everyone else just chirped "i like x one" with no reasons added. Everyone else can just go back to COD. V2 was a garbage fire due to the magic enemies who all know how to cast ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ blink, and also 0 stealth. They remind me of the guards in oblivion who would all converge on you in a 30 mile radius the moment you accidentally touched somebody's turnips.

I agree with all this. Sniper Elite 5 will probably be like SE 4, but perhaps improved even more.
All SE games had a great upgrade on each sequel.

Sniper Elite 4 also have online server browser, and you can join co-op games already in progress too.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. It's interesting seeing everyone's quite different opinions on favourite/least favourite.

Wow, a dev actually responded!

Generally I'd say they've been getting better over time, save for isolated incidents like the final mission of 3. I loved that 4 had multiple playable characters (for coop purposes), as I was never a fan of the "Clone Army Syndrome".

My biggest disappointment with 4 was not being able to assassinate Mussolini. Hopefully for the next game you can give us a more varied range of "special missions" (Himmler, Goering, Reinhard Heydrich, Hideki Tojo)

v2 is the best multiplayer of all

V2 is the best one also SE4 is great.

V2 is a linear shooting gallery that holds your hand almost like a CoD game, SE3 and SE4 are much more open and non-linear giving you more of a Far Cry-esque experience

2 was probably easiest of them to redo i.e. least amount of work for higher quality results.

Actually what OP pointed out was always hilarious to me, especially since store page uses word "stealth" very specifically and trailer shows SE3/4 takedowns none of which is possible in V2 and i'm 99.99% sure it won't be in the Remaster.

I don't expect them to rework the game to change it's "shooting gallery" formule but making AI less omniscient after first bullet is shot would've been great. At the very least bring AI up to SE3 standard where stealth was relatively possible with constant repositioning.

3 was just dumb; the AI was pathetic; like capturing birds after a hurricane (they are so waterlogged they cannot fly). No rinse & repeat here. Play these things one time and toss them; it's no brain stuff. Far Cry 1 through 4 were all worth playing through several times, but these things aren't. (Might have something to do with the brain dead censor, a good little Nazi who clearly does not understand syntax or basic English words. "Through" is a curse word, where but here? "No brain er is a curse word, where but here? Some real closet freaks here who have no experience of the real world. Paranoids freaked out by their own shadows.)

How is V2 the best? It's linear. Its stealth is broken. Sure there are some nice cinematic moments but that's all it has going for it. 3 and 4 are much more open and you can actually behave like a sniper rather than someone moving from vantage point to vantage point only to play out what is essentially a shooting gallery.

If stealth and sniping are broken... I would be embarrassed to even call it "Sniper" Elite.

That is why I would really like to know if they fixed the behavior and playstyle in the remaster, or if all they did is slap some pretty graphics on the broken stealth game.

And sure, some might like the run and gun play, but that is not sniper play.
