You don't need an upgrade or specific kind of warship to be able to deploy them. Because of their size (XL or XXL), mobile armors take up more space in your squad than mobile suits, so to deploy them, you have to remove at least one other unit from the squad in order to make room for them. The only exception, at least as far as I can tell, is if you make them the Master in a Warship Group, since they'll take up the same amount of space as a mobile suit in that particular case.

If your are using a Warship, use XL or XXL on Master Unit slot, so you don't need to sacrifice your +8 MS slots.
you can use a mobile armor your self on a masterleader and still able to deploy 8 mobile suits and its worth doing it too.

Yep. This was also the case in Genesis. So you can either just use an MA in the Master slot of a Warship Group (I'm using a Hashmal & Destroy Gundam in this manner), or you could just use a bunch of MAs in a Warship Group and have like 4-6 of them. Probably better to just use 2 MAs in each Warship's Master slot, and then use 8 MS, simple numbers, and your lone MA can usually tank multiple enemies going after them so they can make great tools for "holding the line". I especially like the Destroy Gundam in that regard since it has the Positron Reflector which negates 5000 damage of any type except for melee at the cost of -10 EN every time it's triggered (but having the Resupply skill on a nearby Warship Captain can help to counter that EN loss from Positron Reflector). Meanwhile Hashmal has Nanolaminate Armor so it just gets tickled by all but the absolute strongest Beam attacks (I always chuckle when my Hashmal gets hit for 0 damage by a Beam attack and the Custom Pilot controlling it just goes "Huh?" as though they are wondering what just tickled their Hashmal). :P
