I think the season pass is overpriced if you compare the content to the base game. But if you really get into Gundam and like having more mobile suits you'll probably wish you had it.

I concur, as much as I like gundam and am grateful for them bringing it to PC and the wider world, I cannot in good conscience say that it is good value. What most of us expected is to have actual missions involving the new units rather than just dispatch ones.

If you just want more Units, Pilots, and Abilities to play with you will find a good amount in the DLC, but if you are looking for more Stages or Game Play features you will be rather upset.

It does make the game easier, but its not really a hard game once you understand all the systems, even if you dont abuse them.

If it was just 20$ I would say its a good deal, but unless your like me and just want more Gundam period its just not worth it.

It's just if you do the math...

Base game is $60. You get over 400 Mobile Suits, over 80 missions (which is many hours of content, they're about 1-2 hours long on average). I imagine something around 100 tracks of music. Over 100 quests. All of the base game Mobile Suits have working tech trees where you can evolve them into new units with leveling. Not to mention all of the abilities and mobile suit mod parts in the game. Dozens of Dispatch missions which are just mobile game timers really.

Then you pay for the Season Pass, which is $25, almost 50% of the cost of the base game, and you get around 30 Mobile Suits, 1 quest per DLC mobile suit (to unlock them for production), none of them have tech trees to go through, about half of that in pilots, even less in music tracks, and you get no real expansions of gameplay as you just get more dispatch missions.

So when I look at it that way I was like "No way I am buying that thing, seems like really poor value."

...But I've been pretty addicted to Gundam lately and really enjoy this game, so I broke down and bought it anyways because I just wanted more SD Gundam. I enjoy some of the units and characters, though honestly I may never use a majority of them because I was already in late-game when the season pass was finished and a lot of the units are middling at best and don't have what I am looking for in terms of movesets. At least Stats don't matter in this game since you can get everyone on equal terms, eventually.

Personally I just wish they added some extra missions to the game to play. Dispatch Missions are fine as a side feature in the background but I wouldn't exactly call them "fun" or "enjoyable". You could remove them from the game and simply add their rewards to base game missions and you would lose almost nothing of value. Maybe more Mobile Suits for the price would've been nice, too.

the dlc dispatch missions (specfically the ones you do to unlock the dlc units and pilots) are also power creep in terms of dispatch rewards. even if you get nothing but the exp and money (which is rare) they are 3 hours and any mission that gives as much or more raw exp and money takes way longer.

They also give you access to some really powerful abilities like Super Pilot.
