The SDG-Series actually lacks QoL-features that are usually standard in turn-based strategy nowadays. Like scrolling through unturned units with the push of a button, for instance.
Most of the effort usually goes into improving the visuals, while the game-engine itself remains fairly bare-bones.
This actually exists in the options, but it's not intuitive. You can change "1" and "3" to scroll only units that can still act.
Also: If you use "1" and "3" when selecting an enemy for an attack, you will scroll through available targets (useful for Warship and Raid group attacks).
Not sure why you'd want to do that unless the entire group is far away from the current action and you just want to move everyone asap, or you just want to mob up cannon fodder. I doubt such an option can ever beat the actual player in terms of positioning and attacking.
Though if you just want to speed things up, there are quite a few options for that in the settings to speed up or skip various map animations.
At least if you want to level your units/pilots, you have dispatch missions so they can get better when you aren't playing. Or when you're playing with your 2 main groups.
