Why are the Iron Blood Orphan Units so garbage?
I haven't watched all the episodes and recently started binging it, but in the game when it comes to the mobile suits, most of them besides the different barbatoses and Gundam Kimaris Vidar only have 1 or 2 attacks.

I don't see anymore point to developing any of their units since I already got all the Barbatos units and Kimaris Vidar final unit form.

It really aggravates me how Seed has the most developed and Variety of units in the game out of everyone else.

i think its cause of the limitations they have, i mean, they never developed energy weapons, so you lose out on that, and it seems missle weapons are also a no for some reason

The in-universe explanation for no guided weapons (missiles, drones) is that the Ahab Reactor (reactor of an IBO MS) generates magnetic interference in a radius of tens of kilometers, rendering those weapons useless. So most combat is done either through melee or unguided projectiles (bazookas, linear guns, dainsleifs).
Beam weapons aren't used by MS because even the most basic MS has Nanolaminate Armor, which negates almost all beam damage.

Of course, such a huge magnetic interference in any kind of realistic setting would just render anything electronic useless too.

The Reginlaze Julia isn't bad though.

The Flauros is amazing.

As explained, they don't have that many Weapons in IBO for most units, also: SEED's been around for nearly the longest, being only beaten out by Wing, plus SEED and the Cosmic Era Timeline are very popular, so a ton of units are available, IBO and the Post Disaster Timeline on the other hand: It's been around for much shorter than SEED (As an matter inf act: it's the youngest timeline in the whole damn game.

Also: Yes, non Gundam suits are generally bad in the PD timeline (Or any Timeline, really) and there are far more powerful alternatives to any Non-Gundam units available within said Timeline.

If you want an IBO Gundam that is really good with great variety of attacks, Flauros is the one you want, with some ranged attack damage upgrades you'll be sniping literally everything on the map, since you already have Barbatos Lupus Rex and Kimaris Vidar, another unit that's really good, despite not looking like it at first glance is the Gundam Bael, despite the fact it only has two weapons, with McGillis at the helm that thing's an absolute Monster and one of my most Powerful suits in my save file. (McGillis is critting enemies for 22K damage in that thing, and I haven't even worked on giving him the skillset i want him to have, when I give him the correct skillset I'll likely have him do 35K or something, also: He and the Bael are VERY dodge capable, with a sweet dodge Animation of his enemy desperately trying to hit the Bael and McGillis just chuckling at his foe's vain attempts)

I think the most armed MS in the anime was a Gusion Rebake Full City and he is also like that in this game. Majority of Mobile Suits in this universe was armed with an 1 melee and 1 range weapon, and game had to respect that.

IBO would be just better as an fpp/tpp action game with melee oriented combat mechanics.

And do not forget that most of the mobile suits and warships have nanolaminated armor which increase their resistance to beam weapons. And considering the late AC, CE, and AD missions will involve plenty of beam weapons, they are a force multiplier when it comes to assist defense. Though against CE Gundams both units will cancel each other put thanks to their respective resistance.

@MacrossMX Unless you use Hashmal, which has a massive 3-10 Range Beam Weapon AND Nanolaminate Armour, it is the perfect CE Counter Unit.

They did develop them, but the nanolaminate armor rendered those obsolete so they haven't been used since before the Calamity.
The Hashmal MA used one massive energy weapon against a wimpy grunt suit and it barely scratched the paint job so imagine how ineffective your average MS beam rifle/saber would be. Or deploy an IBO suit against some Seed Daggers and see it for yourself.

IBO suits are very OP early game. The Nanolaminate armor negating 3000ish beam damage make it probably the hardest series to start off with. Once you hit late game and have super high level everything that may change though.

Please learn to use IBO properly:
- Julieta in Reginlaze Julia can reliably one shot most non-boss units without heavy investment
- Ryusei-Go Flauros while energy-intensive can one-shot most things, too
- Astaroth-Origin is having some range issues but its stats make up for it and with a good melee pilot the sword attack one shots everything.
- Gusion Rebake Full City – nice energy/Damage ratio and good on every range
- Gundam Bael – top stats, only 2 attacks but you don’t need more
- Gundam Vidar – such a cool Gundam, nice stats, incredible attacks and the fearsome Alaya-Vijnana Type E

Adding IBO was an awesome idea since they counter many other series and have a unique style in contrast to the other Gundams.

IBO's suit is good for farming pilot XP. Just throw them into Wing EW 1st mission. Taurus can't even scratch them.
Arthogawa Jan 6, 2020 @ 2:16pm
I think the issue with IBO isn't so much as the units are garbage as it is the many grunts lack variety in their loadout. Pretty much all of them have a 1-1 range melee and then a 2-4 physical ranged attack, and their stats don't vary that much. The only one that really stands out to me is the Dainslief Graze. It would be nice if more of them had 3-7 options like Gundams Barbatos Form 2-4, Rebake, Kimaris Vidar and Flauros to add variety.

The Gundams are all awesome though, even if Astaroth Origin and Bael have some range issues when they get in range they wreck everything.
Sardorim Jan 6, 2020 @ 2:38pm
Well.. They're all based off the same build. Hence Graze and Reginlaze.
