change my mind
He's so clearly a villain and yet he kind-of does the right thing in the end.
He did some shady stuff but he was all for following the Will of The People. He even gave McGillis a chance to surrender and let him live but he refused. After that there was no going back. Rustal HAD to kill McGillis and destroy Tekkadan or risk Gjallarhorn losing all authority and power which would have lead to anarchy.
Rustal even bans Human Debris in a joint signing with Kudelia and lets Kudelia basically run Mars. Rustal also always intended for Julieta, who was much more human than Iok as she came from nothing, to succeed him over Iok who only had power due to his family name. Iok was always just a pawn to him.
Rustal also cannot be held responsible for Iok going behind his back and killing a bunch of people.
Or I'm just being philosophical for no reason at all.
I at least like that they acknowledge a certain someone from the series epilogue if you put the 2nd Season versions of Kudelia Aina Bernstein or Atra Mixta into the Akatsuki from Gundam SEED Destiny, commenting on its name as a reference to the kid Mika never got to see.
It probably is, but I don't think that's saying much.
I'd say Wing is still the best but it's aged poorly and does have a lot of flaws. G Fighters to me is "So bad it's good". Meanwhile I found SEED and 00 pretty boring and without much point to their plots by comparison and lacking the stronger character development of IBO or Wing.
To me it is as, I am sure I will get flamed for this, I dont like UC that much, especially Unicorn. I have tried watching Unicorn twice and Bananger drives me nuts. EVERY time he gets in the cockpit he cries and tells everyone how wrong it is to kill, while he goes and kills people.
I saw the Movie when it was available on Gundam Info and while it thought it was really good I do have one issue. Hard Core UC fans always give AU crap for them being less realistic and have crazy powerful characters or units, but that movie made Newtypes crazy powerful and the Phenex Gundam one of if not the most powerful of them all.
As for Seed I really liked it. Destiny fell apart half way through, but you cant blame them after what happened, so I accept it for what it is. Just wish the movie had been made.
G I love for its Super Robot craziness.
Gundpla Series I really like for it Saturday Morning feel. Its just a fun series to kick back and enjoy.
00 was like the template for IBO. It was the darkest of the AU Gundams at the time that told a more serious story.
Wing has been my least fav of the AU. I have always felt the story moved to slow for me.
Keep in mind this is all just MY opinion and is not meant to attack or change any minds.
I'm a hardcore UC fan but I agree that Banagher is freaking annoying. Most of late UC (anything in the timeline past CCA) is kinda eh for me. Early to mid UC is what I prefer.
I also love certain AU though. I freaking love G, Wing, and X. I will trash bad AU though.
SEED D, AGE, G Reco = bleahhhhh
But I like a lot of the other characters and the background of the world they're in.
When I think of UC Gundam, Unicorn is pretty low on the list. It looks great, does have it's moments of great writing and especially the world building, but I don't like that main cast or the plot of the main cast. I also don't like the Unicorn Gundam that much. It's neat, but I find it a bit odd. I also find the Gunpla kits for it are really nasty in my opinion. It's hard to replicate that psychoframe transformation without it looking tacky and annoying to keep pieced together. That is, unless you shell out a lot for one of those PG kits with some LED lighting.
When I think of UC Gundam I think of the original and it's spin offs. Char's Counter Attack and The Origin for example. 08th MS Team as well. I still need to watch Zeta, Double Zeta, and War in the Pocket.
Bael is alright. I like the design but in Cross Rays I wish it had a bit better of a moveset.
The swords are great but the railgun is a bit lacking in both damage and range. At least with IBO units you can build pilots to benefit all of their movesets easily since they exclusively use physical weapons with the exception of some special moves that don't count.
Kimaris Vidar kinda surprised me with it's Limiter Off move... sadly it is not affected by physical buffs despite obviously being a physical attack (It sure ain't beam, that's for sure.) So now I am in an awkward position where my Vidar is better with every single move on the Kimaris Vidar except for his ultimate move... which is now his weakest move despite needing high morale.
If I ever convince myself to get IBO Gunpla though... I would probably want to have a Gundam Bael.
