Master / Raid Leader / Team Leader
What is the difference between those roles?

I see that the master can't be the raid leader.

Also in the warship group menu, you see there are spots for two team leaders, yet again only one raid leader.

What's up with any of that?

I think that raid leader is useless. Every members can use their own skill.

Master can use support attack with Guest units.
Team leader has a special area to do support attack/defence with their members.

the "master" is basicly your commander of your MS squad (both of them) he can use 2 skills from his subordinates (leader and normal pilots) while each pilot can only have 1 active skill he adds to the list. the master can use 9 skills each mission, each skill works as stated, an aoe skill around the master works within his command range, a aoe around the target you chooses works as it stats or single target skills can be targated.
similar with the captain, he uses the skills from his own ships crew.

raid leader and raid "member" can all use all(!) of their own skills, but they are all only useable on themself and they loose the AoE effect.

for the grp leader as well as the raid leader, i havn't encountered any special rules on their behavior

Master slot is typically going to be reserved for XL+ MS/MA or your MVP. It has automatic EN regen and can issue support attacks. Master slot can also use the skills of the other units.

Team leaders can only issue support attacks for their team. They don’t receive any EN regen. They can only use skills from their team.

Raid leaders don’t seem to mean anything. All units in the raid team receive the same perks. By default you’d likely want your raid leader to have high command though.

I’d say the best feature of raid teams are raid-link attacks, as all raid members can participate in the attack regardless of positioning on the field. This is not the case with team leaders or warships, where they have to be in the vicinity of others to participate in support attacks.

Is it only me or Warship Master cannot get support defense or support attack when countering an enemy attack?

Raid is a completely different setting from Warships, and I saw little difference in regards to position in the grid. Likely, Raid leader is just for there to be a face, no special meaning. Although there are 8 slots, each mission will accept a limited number of units from the Raid team. Raid units can also tag team with each other as long as 2 or more units can hit the target. Another limitation is that their buff skills can only hit themselves.

Leader Unit, in Genesis it could use the skills of their subordinates, now that I think about it, I'm not sure about how it is now in that regard. However in action their main position is to allow the its subordinates to tag. You will notice a blue area around the leader, it only affects those in the same team and no one else. As long as the subordinates are inside, they can support each other, otherwise, they will never be able to defend or link up attacks. They need the leader.

The Master Unit is like Super Leader Unit, the support affects everyone, but only for attack, not defense, this includes other units and guest characters, and it can use all the skills from the pilots in their ship. They also recover some EN each turn, basically, they are units capable of acting solo.

That is exactly the case. The thing about Master Unit that the other replies failed to mention is that they can ask for supporting fire from ANYONE. This includes members from Raid, another ship, and even story characters.

Like many that mentioned, you want to reserve this slot for your Ace because of the lack of Support Defense, you'll want them to be able to survive encounters you throw them into.

Team Leader has a small niche in that some particular units have a Commander-Type version. You can see this by putting a GN-XIV, Brave, or any other grunt units that has a Commander-Type version.
