Link attacks - I'm confused
I bought this game on a complete whim. I've never watched a Gundam show, nor do I watch any anime. I do like the artwork and games, though. So far, I am pleasantly impressed by this game. It's fun, looks nice, and has a large amount of content for your gaming dollar. After buying this game, I may actually watch a few shows.

Anyway, I'm starting to understand most of the mechanics. What I don't get are the "linked" attacks. Sometimes I can do them, and sometimes I can't. I don't know if there are just certain units that can do it. Sometimes I can have a unit do "support" and help them defend a unit. I'm sorry if this is a poor description, but I have no idea how to even explain it. It appears as though I can attack more than one unit, but I have no idea how to do it. I thought i had it figured out, and I did it once, but now I can't figure out how I actually did it. lol.

Would anyone be kind enough to explain how linking works? I'm probably thinking wrong, and making it more difficult than it actually is. Thanks a bunch =)

Let's start with saying that there are 2 kind of links support: (WS)raids and link support.

A warship group (WS) can initialize a raid through the warship, if the units of that ship are deployed and inside the warship area; this can be done once per turn.

Then you have another kind of group think of them as independent units, each of them can initialize a raid attack with an area shared by every units of this group, still once per turn.

Now let's talk about link support:

In the case of the WS group, you have 3 rank of units:

- Master unit, the one on the left, who can ask for link attack from any other unit from the same group, as long it's still an active unit (aka didn't end its turn; also keep in mind that nobody else can ask for link support from this unit);

- 2 Leader units (top left and top right), who can both ask for support or ask for support from their subordinates units from the same column;

- 6 Subordinates units, who can ask for both link attack and link support as long they are in their respective leader's area.

For the raid group (the one without warship), they can support each one as long the targeted enemy is in their range of fire.

Hope this clears some confusion on your part.

Link attack affect by the control area and number of teammates in the same map.
For example:
A stage with land and sky.
sky: 1 teammate
land: 3 teammates
You can do link attack 1-3 enemies in the land map.
But you cannot do link attack in the sky, because there is no teammate.

Warship's link attack is almost the same, but it count the number of teammates "in the warship's control area".

Supports are affect by the control area too. The defender must stay inside the control area.

However, doing support attacks by raid group don't need to stay together.

Thank you in bunches. I was over thinking it, and you cleared it up great. Happy gaming.

And thank you, too, for the additional info. Helps a lot.

Link attacks are your saving grace. They are essential for leveling units and pilots and make completing challenging quests a breeze.

Raid link attacks are better simply because anyone in the raid team can initiate it and enemies all over the grid can be attacked as long as one raid unit has them in their control area.

Warship link attacks are more limiting as only the warship can initiate them and the enemy units must be in the warship’s control area.

Use link attacks as often as you can.

they're 2 kind of "link"

1.Raid Link when you deploy team in "Raid" formation (8unit) each own unit can select command "Link Raid" (or something else i don't sure) it can select number of enemy up to number of your unit.But enemy must be in your unit(s) area. U can use this command even your unit is opposite of the map

2.Warship link is mostly same but need to use through Warship unit.Number of target that can select is up to deployed unit from that warship MAX 9 target. If you only sent out 2 unit Warship Link can only select 2 enemy.Area WS link size is up to Capt. "Command" Status

Another nice piece of advice. Thank you.

Everyone was really helpful in this thread. After following all the tips, and playing the game more, these link and raid abilities make things much more interesting. It ass more depth considering the turn mechanics are one entire side goes, then the other side goes. It's something you don't think about when you first play the game, but when you plan for it and understand it, you appreciate it. Happy gaming everyone.

I agree. It's also often crucial if you want to clear both secret challenges and quests, as these feature help greatly.
