Holy crap, these freezing issues are infuriating.
After running the game smoothly for a hot minute, I mistakenly got too comfortable and didn't quick save after doing countless unit actions in a turn..

Then BAM, a freeze.

Bandai, you gotta get this ♥♥♥♥ sorted out. I shouldn't have to constantly save and be in fear of my game freezing every moment im in game.

tell me about it. I have to keep reloading from the last autosave and redo progress constantly lol.

Maybe share your system specs and see if someone can figure out why it's freezing to begin with.

I haven't had a single crash or freeze in 85 hours so far.

I sent my DxDiag file into bandai support already.

Intel I7-7700HQ 2.80ghz
Nvidia GTX 1060
32GB ram
Win 10, all drivers up to date.

Are you sure that the game is using your GPU and not your iGPU?
sintri Dec 17, 2019 @ 10:26pm
If they actually knew what they were doing they'd make a sticky.

https://steamcommunity.com/games/728530/announcements/detail/1709609779826187837

Also if they actually knew what they were doing, they wouldn't be changing it using that method. Not 100% sure if that method works, but that is what they're suggesting. Otherwise this forum's already been filled with numerous posts about the most common causes of the game crashing.

Yep I always make sure my games are whitelisted. My game only freezes during battle cutscenes.

Yeah, that's probably a hardware issue, I've had exactly one crash during battle animations... in over a hundred hours of playtime, isn't it weird how: most people have next to no crashes, and a few have crashes all the time? And going by the reviews: Those whom constantly crash are in the minority: And if you want to fix the issue rather than complain about it, figure out what's causing it with others whom have the same problem instead of complaining, compare hardware with one another, see if you can find a trend, compare settings, start working down the list.
Everyone can complain, few can find solutions, even for a company, tracking down every bug across every hardware/software setup is nearly impossible, so figuring out some kind of connecting thread between all of those whom crash would go a long way to narrowing down the culprit, you cannot expect a company to magically know what is going wrong with your particular setup.

I can guarantee you it’s your processor. That processor clock speed is too slow. The minimum requirement’s processor clock speed is 3.2GHz. That is what’s definitely causing your crashing, as your GPU and amount of RAM (overkill, by the way) are more than sufficient.

For comparison, I have an i7-7700K 4.2 GHz, GTX 1080 Ti, and 16 GB RAM. I haven’t had a single crash or issue with this game. Your processor is your bottleneck. That processor can be boosted to 3.8 GHz, but I wouldn’t overclock it if you aren’t familiar with what you are doing, especially on a laptop.

The last thing you want to do is burn out the processor and have to get a new laptop. My only recommendation since your CPU doesn’t meet the minimum requirement is to make sure absolutely no other programs are running and play the game in fullscreen if you aren’t already. The game is pushing your processor over its limit.

Bro, thank you. That was actually extremely helpful and informative. I get FPS drops and stuttering like crazy in most my games (examples: Earth Defense Force 4.1/5, Monster Hunter World) and I have sent this laptop into Dell a multitude of times for repairs and have a sea of support emails going back and forth for the past 3+ years trying to figure out what the problem is. The closest I got to an answer was they thought the CPU heatsink wasn't cooling properly so they replaced that too and it didn't change a damn thing. I've been pulling my hair out over this lol. What's really funny is it used to run games just fine, like it was supposed to, but there was a issue with the mouse pad so had to send it in, then ever since I got it back it's never worked properly again, even after multiple reformats. It drives me absolutely crazy that they used such a weak processor for a gaming laptop.

So for future reference, it's better to have a higher clock speed than more cores correct?
What's the bare minimum cores you need for a stable gaming rig?

(also funny to note but I don't get FPS drops in Gundam, or Dark Souls. The screen freezing during battle animations is completely unique to this game and I've never experienced it in anything else. The audio will keep playing but the screen just locks up.)

Edit: Also I have tried overclocking the CPU in the BIOS by setting it on performance mode just to see if that would fix my FPS drops and stuttering in other games. I did see a slight improvement but it didn't stop the stuttering and the fans were just way too loud.

My processor is better than yours and my game crashes/freezes more often than not. Doubt it has anything to do with hardware and the issue lies more on the optimization side.

Higher clock speed is almost always better. More cores are essential for multi-tasking and running multiple programs (each core for a task), although it can lead to games running more smoothly as well. That depends on whether or not the developer optimizes the game to take advantage of all those cores.

I’d recommend four cores at the very least. Dark Souls is an older game, and I’m assuming you are talking about New Gundam Breaker? I’d figure the particle effects (especially the explosions) in Cross Rays are a nightmare for your processor to handle.

It’s rather odd that gaming laptop would come with a good GPU and excessive amount of RAM, but such a weak CPU. It’s no wonder you suffer from stuttering problems and performance issues in most modern games. Hopefully that was helpful and you’ll be able to get a better processor so you can play the game without issue.
