Do you think we'll ever get a dubbed Gundam game ever again?
I'd hate to be that guy cuz i'm pretty excited that we're even getting this game at all but I think we can agree that Scott "Indrick Boreale" McNeil needs to reprise his role as Duo Maxwell

Perhaps, but even if we were getting dubbed games this without a doubt wouldn't be it anyways. There's way too much to get dubbed

for the cost it's not worth it

I think DWG3 will probably be the final Gundam game to receive a dub. It’s just not cost effective, not to mention BN knows they can get away with just the Japanese VO and English text.

They are forced to dub DBZ games because the outcry for the Funi dub is so loud. Not doing it would likely harm sales of DBZ games.

I actually tend to prefer the English dub for Gundam series, but I can go either way. I’m just happy we are finally getting these games again.

The issue is the money is just not there for them to do dubs. Originally Gundam games only had Dubbs because it was a Sony Policy in the west. But they slight laxed the rules enough that as long as DWG Reborn was digital only it was allowed to have no Dub. Now days a game doesnt even have to have english audio in it.

Depending on how easy the game is to mod, there is always a chance that someone could create English Audio replacers.

Replacing audio wouldn't work, though - a lot of the characters would have no English voice, due to either their source material never being dubbed, to never being animated, to even this very game being the first time the West has officially seen them!

That certainly would be an issue for the side stories, given most of them were manga. Then again, there was never initially Japanese VA’s for these characters either.

Either way, a dub isn’t happening. Gundam isn’t on the level of popularity of DBZ or Naruto.

That hasn't stopped them before. To my knowledge, dubs are still being produced for the recent anime projects as well so it's not like there is zero demand for it.

If anything, it's Bandai Namco being cheap/lazy as usual and not really caring about their products. They're doomed to fail from the start, but since people are too traumatized by the few years they didn't localize anything, they'll cling onto any garbage the company puts out regardless of quality. It's all about quantity now, sadly.

I don't really think you know how much content is in this game, it simply wouldn't be profitable. Just like how dragonball heroes probably won't ever get dubbed because there's simply too much

I'm embarrassed to say I forgot all about the live-action Hollywood Gundam film. Other than the president of Sunrise revealing the collaboration with Legendary Pictures, we don't know anything about it.

If it were to be a huge success and appeal to a wider audience beyond Gundam fans, I could see that leading to possible future English dubs in games. I just hope it's good. Hopefully they play it safe and just adapt the original MSG into a live action film. Then they have plenty of material for sequels, provided it's good.

Too much work for Bamco nowadays. They hate English so much they removed the English track from the Katamari remaster. They'd rather cater to hardcore weebs who want nothing to do with an English track than put some actual effort into their projects.

I’m positive their reasoning for not doing an English dub is not because they “hate” English. They’ve just been burned in the past doing English dubs on games that didn’t sell well.

Translating a game into several languages is not cheap. BN would only do it if they knew the game was going to sell exceptionally well in that region. I think there are enough English-speaking Gundam fans to make that a reality, but we are going to have to prove it first.
