She goes off on her own frequently, and sometimes refuses to follow in situations where I would very much like her help. (I assume she's off feeding on whomever we just killed, and being considerate of my feelings, prefers to do it out of my sight.) She also has serious ADHD, and that is sometimes a problem. I wish she'd sip some Skooma from time to time and just chill for a while. Her OCD about crafting activities I just find amusing.
Having her as a follower is a real incentive to maximise my range attacks. (I rely on range attacks and use melee weapons when range attacks fail or when they're simply not appropriate.) She's not quite so aggressive in caves, but if an enemy slips by and gets behind me, she's always right there to finish it off. (One reason I gave her my Deathbrand armour is that it makes her easy to identify. I wish she had a map marker.) I've actually altered my fighting style to accomodate Serana.
Serana is actually one of the better followers though, and IMO the best. I like her independence. I will continue to defend her in spite of her sometimes annoying idiocyncrasies. We can't all be perfect.
Necroposting over 2 years old threads, are we?
Nice manners.
A lot of ♥♥♥♥♥ given...
... from someone who actually used the word "waifu."
I think somebody's cranky and needs a nap...
Yup, you're railroaded into it, no choice. The game of course railroads you into most things the illusion of choice is little more than a fig leaf at times and this is one of those times where its painfully obvious.
Theres Serana Dialogue Edit mod which aims to fix the worst of the dialogue atrocities. Worth a shot.
You''re not the first to notice the gaping plot hole...
Nope, no sense at all . Other than the fact that you were probably supposed to join the Volkihar clan at this point and Bethesda had second thoughts and said "Hang on, what if the player doesn't want to join..." and tacked on the alternative Dawnguard quest as an afterthought, much like "Destroy the Dark Brotherhood!" quest. Completely devoid of anything worthwhile or useful.
Indeed.
Probably. But there are indications the Dawnguard DLC was rushed (see Serana dialogue point again) and that would have consumed extra resources/time.
I don't follow here. Is there something else that you want that is not already included here?

Well, she's been in stasis for a very, very long time, since before the first Empire, presumably back in her day people talked like modern-day earthlings...
