Missing the Shield of Ysgramor!

Many levels back I took the Shield of Ysgramor from the Tomb and placed it in the chest at Kodlak's room in Whitrun. I've come back to try it out but it's no longer there! I went back to the Tomb to see if it was returned but no, it's not. How to I produce it again?

It might be a glitch or something. Or, I heard somewhere that if you dont own the chest then the item will disapear after a while or an npc will take it. Might not be true though.
If u just want to get the shield back, and dont mind useing cheats, u could always get it from the testinghall.

Yeah its true in most cases actually. Try putting something on the ground once too, and step back and watch as whatever NPC is walking by grabs it and picks it up. Kind of sucks too when your trying to mod a new weapon and place it somewhere and some random moron has it equipped.

Sorry. I never figured out how that works. Can you explain it to me step my step what to do after I press the ' ~ ' key?

Just type it in and press enter. Most containers outside your homes will respawn after several in-game days. You would want to put your stuff in your homes instead of putting it anywhere else.

It worked! Thanks a bunch. When I checked the stats, I discovered the odd Dwarven shield offered better protection.

So if I were to take Wuthrad out of the Ysgramor's Tomb, I couldn't place it in the special weapon rack that's above the staircase at the Jorrvaskr ?
