*possible spoilers* But those of you having a moral issue with the thieves guild please read.
Like me many of you probably didnt want to be a nightingale.

Well because we didnt want to be tied to a daedra after death.

Some of you feel that this is nothing but some of us have standards we follow, upon becoming a werewolf for the companions I renounced it the first chance I got as I would never tie myself to hircine.

I never became a vampire as I would never tie myself to mol balag.

vaermina tried to get me to kill someone for a pathetic staff I dont think so I would never harm an innocent for personal gain.

So now the thieves guild wants me to tie myself to nocturnal and come to find out you cant undoe a tie to her in which she wants me to serve her even after death.

For those of you struggling with this your not alone, There are a few options be it you may find them dumb or not this may help you come out of it feeling better.

1- I reccomend not even doing the thieves guild questline, I understand you need it to identify the unusual gem but in the end how important is it really. Skipping allows you to not tie yourself to nocturnal.

2- Like me its to late and have done the questline foolishly as I thought I would be given a choice in the end. Dont worry there is a way I found to break my ties with nocturnal.

If you have already done the quest and feel a little angry your still tied to her, then renounce her and disgrace her.

Drop 4 torches in nocturnals inner chamber ( or other light source) it is among the most disrespectful thing to do to the so called daedra of darkness, in the middle place all the pieces of the nightingale armor, Then say the words "Nocturnal never shall I bind to an entity as worthless as you"

I think nocturnal will basically get the message, do not take the nightingale armor back leave it to rest in that chamber.

After doing this hopefully like me you will feel a bit better knowing you have renounced her and will no longer be bound.

mhhhhh, many daedric princes doesn't care about your will, simply doing tasks for them will link you to them and sovengarde is banned.
Take Meridia: if you tell her that you don't want to be her champion but you already retrieved the dawnbreaker she tell's you it's not important what you think, you are her champion.
So for roleplaying i'd say that if you don't want to be tied to daedra you must avoid any interaction with them, if you do as they ask you are their champion no matter what.
Regarding my char, he is the champion of every daedric primce except azura, so i guess there will be turmoils when he will die, altough the strogest link is with hircine...
Exactly, they really dont care, but I was kinda hoping for an OUT to appear for nocturnal so I invented my own out.

Cause with hircine I was given the option to discard the werewolf with the glenmoril witches head which I did the instant I found out I could.

Vaermina I had the option to kill him or not.

Heck even with molag bal in morthal I wouldnt have killed the other guy except he tried to kill me and I had no issue killing a servant of boethia as I dont support any daedra.

But with nocturnal there was nothing at all that would get me out so that kinda pissed me off lol after I had did everything in my power to not tie myself it basically forced me into something and I refused to take that sitting down.

there is a mod for it on the nexus but i dont remember its name that lets you back out of the quest and forces karlia (probably a typo) to do it w/o you

Are we forgetting that this is a game, software, fiction, fantasy? I'm actually a little concerned for you. I would hate to think your letting Skyrim blur into reality and effect you in negative ways in your life and keep you lying awake at night.

lol this is actually a common comment I see alot,

And I can see where your coming from...you make a good point.

But truth is I dont like bad things to happen, wether its a game or not, has nothing to do with an obscured reality its mainly a moral thing for alot of people.

and its a moral issue for me lol if I can find a decent way out of things thats what I do.

I understand, and the positive thing of it is that you have morals and values, and like to work towards positive results and good endings. Just don't let Skyrim influence you to the point to where your buying cars based off of what damage a dragon could do to it , or if you could fit battle trolls in the boot.

Yeah, it’s kinda lame that you have to pledge your immortal soul to sit around in a hidden temple that no one will likely ever find for a few thousand years, but thems the breaks. No really, think about it, every major quest line, save for the College of Winterhold, requires you to in some way pledge your soul to something or another. As you’ve already said, in Thieves Guild you pledge yourself to nocturnal, in The Companions to Hircine, and in Dawnguard, if you become a vampire, or if you become a vampire at all, you are indentured to Molag Bal. Furthermore in the main quest line, it is made clear that when you die, you will have your place in Sovngarde along side the dragonborns of old. I always though that was weird, everyone in the entirety of the world seems to want your soul, although I guess that’s understandable. After all, it’s the soul of a dragon.

well, first off i support your immersion and roleplaying: if you play someone that consider daedra a bad thing your problem is very legitimate.

For the nocturnal fix, well, it must work for you so if your little cerimony suits your roleplaying that's fine.

But Malog Bal? Ok, the initial priest attacks you, but then MALOG BAL (someone considered evil by every culture) asks you to bring him another person with lies, then trap him, then torture him, then kill him, then resurrect him, then kill him again. And then you become his champion.
Well, i understand the victim is a boethia follower, but all that hate... And you could totally skip the quest simply not doing what malog bal asks you...

For that one your character must make an hell of a ceremony, and i dunno if the other guys at sovengarde would want you inn...
there is an alternative route... pledge your soul to every daedra, then when you die they can slug and bicker with each other about it :) ... unless they decide to flip a coin for it. in general a lot of the guild quests lack alternative to either bail on the faction or destroy it like the dark brotherhood, but then again i seem to remember it being the same in the older TES games

@dorkdiva there is nothing wrong with getting immersed in a roleplaying game XD i mean isn't that why we indulge in fantasy and sci fi to experience a different reality or in some cases a non-reality

That would be quite fun.

Well, if you don't want to be linked to an evil daedra, with your next character do the right thing while doing deadra quests (like don't kill the priest of Mara for Vaermina, for example), don't join the Thieve's Guild (just ignore Brynjolf), and kill off the Dark Brotherhood (then Sithis won't get you). If you do all that, you're character will be okay and likely go to Sovngarde when he or she dies.

I have to agree somewhat, for High Fantasy, The Elder Scrolls has taken some dark turns. I played through all the quests being as lawful and kind as possible, then I went through and got a little wicked, because you simply get more rewards by following ALL the quests. It's all up to you, which is the point. There are consequences for every action, kind of like FATE, but not as pronounced in character development. Though it seems so, there is no real moral alignment in Skyrim, fame is fame. Take city guards for example, they are all uniquely aligned, some are even Sithis followers, but even this changes according to how well you are known. It balances out, so no matter your personal moral alignment, you will have supporters and enemies. Daedric quests are optional and really only award weapons and armor, nice toys but you don't really need them. It would be a challenge to play like a saint and get the most out of the game, but an interesting trial. My advice for fears of the afterlife... don't die. You're the Dragonborn, Skyrim is yours. And remember, it's a fine day with you around. ;P*

Its not just the tieing your soul to the Daedric princes I have been having a problem with its the Completion of the questline in total. I mean come on. Your the leader of the guild/Companions/masterVampire/Listener you should be sending out other people to handle quests and once in a while something comes up only you can handle. The Mage's College is the only one that doesn't feel like your being ordered around by your subbordinates ( I mean who else can handle the unique problem because of the Item in your possesion) Bethesda fell down on the faction quests between oblivion to here.

Basically the first thoughts that came to my mind. It's just a game. Your character has no soul, there is no death, and "struggling" with certain outcomes is rather sad.

Right on, make a good point just ignore the daedra quests, but thieves guild questline is tricky.

I am one of thoe people who only roll one character.

But going into the thieves guild while there was an initial darkness after coming from so many other quests where I have had optiions I thought I could right the wrong of the thieves guild later somehow with a alternative outcome.

But there was nothing just boom the daedra of all daedra's nocturnal gets you no backing out now no options to erase what you have done.

I got rid of werewolf, no vampire nothing like that just to stay positive and all got taken away cause of a questline with no options lol

and to be honest, I did ignore brynjolf for the longest time, but finally got to the point where I wanted to get rid of the unusual gems and maybe make the thieves guild more leniant maybe turn some wrongs right along the way but it remained this dark questline all the way through.
