Which type of elf is your favorite?
I'm fairly curious as to what type of elves are people's favorites and why? I sort of lean towards Dark Elves myself (they seem to be the most flexable, although I like to play High Elves and Wood Elves occasionally as well).

i suppose it depends on the type of character you are playing, for a vampire dunmer are the way to go, they negate the fire vulnerability it's great. I'm really not much of a mage type player though so altmer are kinda bleh, plus I dunno they look a little....off. So i guess overall my favorite would have to be bosmer, i love stealth and archery so they're the best fit. odd issue though, I HATE the weird facial proportions of all the male elves, if i make an elf it has to be female for purely aesthetic reasons, and i NEVER play female characters.
the dead kind. seriously, elves are terrible

My personal favorite are the Deep Elves (Dwemer). But if you ment under the playable races probably Altmer.

Most hated? The Snow Elves (Falmer).

Why do you hate the Snow Elves when they barely have any "air time" compared to the others?

I agree with Modi - male elves look weird. If you play around with the settings enough, you can make male Wood Elves and High Elves approach a normal humanlike appearance (the chins will alway be too long, and as few other features will always be a bit off as well), but male Dark Elves are hopeless, and even female Dark Elves won't win any beauty contests (but that's okay - I still really like them for where their starting skill levels are and for their racial powers). CATS - are you a sword and board character player (you can make Dark Elves and Wood Elves works as warriors, but it takes work, and using a Altmer as a warrior just seems a total waste of talent and power - if you want to play a non-human warrior, you're much better off playing an Orc (I think that Orcs are the ultimate warriors in Skyrim - I once beat two giants and two mammoths with a 6th level orc while berserk), or do you just think elves look weird (which I admit they are)?

Maybe LoCo is talking about the fallen Falmer, in which case a heartily agree with him - the only thing they're good for is target practice.

Elves aren't supposed to look like humans with pointy ears, they are supposed to look like a different race. That means facial features are visibly different from humans. I find it is ia good thing that the elever don't look humanlike in that regard.

You're right, of course - just as Orcs, Khajiit, and Argonians are supposed to look different from humans as well - elves are non-human, they just look more human than the other three non-human races (and are able to breed with humans as well).

A dead one.

EDIT: Damn you, CATS.

Dwemer are dwarves iirc. Even if their height didn't show it.

I've been a fan of dunmer since Morrowind so... yeah.

Dwarves get their name from the giants, not from Tolkein style lore.

Wasn't there an NPC Dwemer in one of the earlier games who was about human-normal size - I've heard that there was one. The books and lore found in the Skyrim game itself don't help - they contradict each other as to the Dwemer's size (I would have to imagine if they were shorter, they would have been only slightly shorter than humans). Of course, since Nords are notably taller than Bretons, and both races are humans, I guess "human-sized" is a vague reference in and of itself..

Yagrum was about normal size if you ignore how his legs are replaced by some sort of machine.

As far as I know the only time the lore says that the dwemer were short is when they are referring to how the giants saw them. Everything else puts them at around the average height of the races.

Yagrum - yes, I think that was the NPC I was thinking of. I thought Dwemer must have been near normal size. It was just one book or pamphlet that my character had read in game that mentioned dwarves being short, and I'm not even sure it was a book specifically about Dwemer - I don't remember much about it now.

i gotta agree with you aleitheo, it's good that the elves don't just look like humans with pointy ears, but at the same time I don't like how they look now, I don't know what i would do differently, just that i don't like the male elves at all lol.
