Report a translation problem
console command to reset followers = "set playerfollowercount to <0>" which wipes the follower list and allows you to invite again.
Here are two commands
show playerfollowercount (This one will tell you if you have one active).
set playerfollowercount to <0 or 1> ( this one will reset it to zero if you enter 0 )
Thus set playerfollowercount to 0
EDIT: I guess I'm too slow.
Some NPCs follow you temporarily for the duration of a quest. If you avoid completing the quest and go somewhere else, they may follow you around. As many of these NPCs are unkillable, and you can have several followers at the same time, you can use them to fight difficult enemies in a different questline.
