A return to your roots quest issues
I seem to lacking the required item to activate the dwarven mechanism. Could somone tell me what that is? Had tried everything else

Dwarven mechanism has nothing to do with the quest ''a return to your roots'' You must collect 30 crimson roots down in blackreach

It helps to know that you hear a Crimson Nirnroot plant after you have walked by it. If you hear one, turn around and look where you just walked. Wish I'd figured that out at the time!

Strange that the quest led me to Alftand and has the arrow on the dwarven mechanism. What quest am i on? Where is Blackreach? Appriectiate the help.

UESP proviides a much better description of Blackreach[www.uesp.net] than I can. The Blackreach Lore[www.uesp.net] page is also interesting.

To find out what quest you're on, bring up the Journal in-game, and see what's active.
