[FIXED]Skyrim locks up at startup at the Skyrim logo.
It's the first time I've decided to play skyrim in a long time, and I tried to play it, but my game locks up at the skyrim logo on startup. Task manager always has my game as "not responding" so I'm always forced to exit. My video card drivers are all up to date, I've removed all the mods I had, and yes, my PC is perfectly capable of handling this game, and I've also verified my game cache files. I never encountered this when I first played the game. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the replies. Nightcore, where may I find the Skyrim.ini file? I searched every file in my Skyrim folder and didn't find it.

it should be in documents/mygames/skyrim

I looked in that folder, it isn't there... Strange.

consider reinstalling your game.

I've already done that several times, nothing has worked. I usually can figure stuff out myself, but this problem has really stumped me.

have you deleted any leftovers manually?

I removed my old save game files, but since that didn't help me at all, I put them back where they were. Besides that, I didn't fiddle with any other files.
**EDIT** before getting into the game, I went to the little skyrim menu and went to Data Files, and had to manually turn off the mods there... Forgot to do that besides also unsubbing to mods. This seemed to work. Thanks for your help/ideas everyone. :)

1. let steam delete your game
2. Uninstall mods
3. delete everything inside skyrims install folder
4. delete everything inside documenst/mygames/skyrim
->in your case, i would delete saves, too since theay might be affected by some cript, causing a crash on startup
5. now restart your pc
6. let steam dload skyrim again
7. install vcredist/dotnetfx/directx manually

then this is obsolete XD

Yes, sorry. Thanks for your suggestions, though!
It might be best to get a person near you, who knows where to find the Skyrim .ini folder, and can look at your actual set up. I bet a lot of the community would agree that we wish we were at your computer now to help, but sadly not. My point being, try to get a friend to look at this thread, to understand what the deal is, and then let them take a look at your file paths.....best of luck!

And thumbs up for community members helping! :)

[EDIT] Wait..I forgot about the [FIXED] add-on >.<
