Can't get anyone to follow me.

Every time I ask someone to follow me, I'm told that I already have someone but I don't. It's really messing ny game up. Is this a known glitch? Is there a fix or console command that will remedy this situation.

Have you ever had one in this playthrough? Perhaps she died in some cave, or locked somewhere. Or Farkas in the Companions quest. If you started that he is waiting for you to accompany him to complete the quest. He counts as a companion. You could try fast travelling, sometimes that bring the follower to you.

? Have you ever had a follower at anytime? If you did and he/she got lost you may have to wait till he/she finds you or gives up and goes home. Then will be able to get another. If you never had a follower, then you may have a bug. Can't help you then. Still trying to buy sawn logs myself, but no one sells or lets me saw my own at the mills(no dialogue) Good luck maybe someone else can help.

Sometimes your followers get lost and its impossable to find them, which makes it so you cant recruit new ones. If you used Dead Throll on the previous follower that is missing then you can use the console comand "player.dispelallspells" (Without quotations). To get to console comand you have to press ~ while in-game. I think you are supposed to take off any armor and wepons you have equiped first. (I have it written down so idk if that was for this cc or another one but to be safe just take your armor and wepons off 1st) It fixed my problem :) If it was a normal follower that you didnot use Dead Throll (or any other resurection spell) on, then all I can suggest is you fast travel around to where you think the last place you saw your follower. Maybe fast travel to a few major and minor cities as well. Thats all the advice I can really offer in that situation :(

In regards to the sawn logs, I had the same issue that you described. I tried what this video said and now I have no problem getting logs. Hope this helps.

I hate this. My companion stuck like 20 times and this ♥♥♥♥ hapends.
Now ...Im get the two summons perks...so I dont use companion anymore wtf!

In case anyone, like me, finds this while searching for a resolution to this issue the actual command is:

set playerfollowercount to 0

I think I've found a solution to this glitch without using commands. During the quest called "The Silver Hand", you have to travel to a Silver Hand camp with Aela the Huntress. You travel through the Under Forge to get out of White Run. She sometimes gets stuck between the teleportation path from the Under Forge to Skyrim. You should see her in between the two. Using a bow to damage her to low health and cause her to stumble should make her actually go through to Skyrim. I'm currently completing the quest right now. Sorry for being a few years late.
