nexus and workshop DON'T work together well, stick to one or the other.
If you wanna know more, there are lots of tutorials knocking around youtube.
Oh go on then, I'll mention it.. a few of us gathered together and set up the pinned thread, here on the Skyrim forum, containing lots of links to save you time :)
Nexus mod manager pretty much does what it says on the tin, like grimus, I have both sources running fine and dandy (for now, huehuehue) :)
A few good people, including FurryGuyJeans and grumpy grimus there have stated I'm sure many times this little nugget:
If you install a new Workshop mod, and you use SKSE to start up your game, then just run the Steam Skyrim launcher by starting the game through your library, just to get the launcher up, then let steam update your new installments. once it's finished it's biz, check your plug-ins list there, to see if it has the new mod checked, and then you're good to go, clear for take off, chucks away..tell bomber to take off! Bomb bay doors open! ACHTUNG SCHPITFIRE!!
I think you might have a weird problem if you want a mod for only parts of it - Steam takes an all or nothing approach while NMM will warn you before an overwrite and allow you to adjust appropriately.
This is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥... I have 188 mods right now and the ratio is about half nexus and half steam. Just because you didn't read mod instructions and compatabilities and weren't willing to work a little to get your mods to work together doesn't give you the right to proclaim that the system is broken, it's not. You're just lazy.
why would you want to download the same mod twice? (this will definitly cause errors by the way, do not do this) The reason to use nexus is for the mods like falskaar that aren't put on steam.
As long as you have mod manager set to the correct directory for your steam version of skyrim then both the data files and the nmm menu should show the mods from both steam and nexus that are active.
If you have copies of the same mod, whether one is a newer version or not, it will cause all sorts of problems with scripting. About the only way this works is if the mods *only* add/remove items or textures.
